Bluemoon's Official Top 100 TV Shows

I never watched Treme but The Wire is a magnificent series.
Fair enough. I didn't find many of the characters likeable - I know that wasn't the point of the series, but it's important to me as a viewer.

I preferred Treme because the characters are better, the music is great and because New Orleans seems a far better backdrop to a series than Baltimore. And the series still manages to tackle some weighty post-Katrina issues.

Had Fawlty at number five in my list, superb comedy (writing and visuals) and a clever setting which allowed for different characters to come and go with each episode. Like most successful comedies, there is an iconic lead figure with a talented supporting cast.

Maybe you had to experience it first time round to fully appreciate its value, Basil Fawlty made full use of sarcasm as a comedic tool and with the other characters and situations thrown in, it made you laugh a lot, and that is the reason its where it is on here, although higher would not have surprised me.

If as I suspect that The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, The Wire and Game of Thrones will make up the top four in whatever order then that leaves only four places to be filled.
Others have predicted Only Fools and Horses will also be top 10 so that makes three. The Office US has made the list so very surprised if the UK one doesn't feature, that leaves two.
Wonder if there will be a surprise in the Top 10? The City-heavy cult series Burn It hasn’t appeared yet....

- Alan Ball's Six Feet Under / Banshee.
- BBC's Line of Duty.
- BBC's The Last Kingdom.
- Anything by Ken Burns.

I am guessing we might see one documentary appear and I'm surprised The Mandalorian hasn't appeared.

Also, a bit surprised Corrie didn't make the 100; not that I voted for it but I'd had to have it in my own 100 on the grounds of how many episodes I've seen.

I had Channel 4’s Cutting Edge documentary series on my list as it featured some very memorable films but something like Louis Theroux might sneak in, his snide and sneaky style is not my thing but he’s popular on here.
I also had Brookside rather than Corrie. In its heyday it was brilliantly written by Redmond and aside from being a funny and human drama, it also covered genuine issues from class and Thatcherism to incest, racism, domestic violence and coming out.

Top 10 places are indeed getting limited. Blackadder is bound to be in (not in my 20 but very funny). Seriously hoping Red Dwarf isn't going to miss out.
