There probably wouldn't have been any trouble if the United fans hadn't of been looking for it .... nothing had apparently occured before their arrival.

The rags did a runner when the cops came calling , as you would expect , and obviously the City fans in the pub were trapped inside as the staff had previously attempted to close the doors/shutters .....

if it had of been three cops inside the pub who were attacked , every possible effort would have been made to find those responsible , no doubt about that .... but three (probably well-oiled) City fans are much easier targets than a bunch of running yobs , and especially if the bar staff failed to back up their story of what happened.

The City lads "trapped inside"?? "...especially if the bar staff failed to back up their story of what happened"??

Come on, BM, the staff's safety was at risk too, so WHY didn't they speak out in defence of them??

A later vendetta maybe ... against the pub and its staff??

By yobs who were quick enough to run away to live to fight another day ??

It's hard to believe that just three City fans would put in a huge amount of effort to 'goad' a large and threatening mob of rags outside ... even if they had had a few beers!

Or the three that were caught...??

When a huge kick off happens, they don't ever catch everybody, do they??

All the more strange...

In my opinion, if one is innocent and you have witnesses to back that to the hilt, you use them, full stop. However, if you've stated you're innocent and the witnesses may just not concur with your view, then you have problems.

Perhaps they thought 'mitigating circumstances' via 'provocation' might just win them the day...
The proescutaion could make Mother Thersa sound like the bat out of hell .if you were in crown court & had the chance of getting no jail time for pleading guilty or a strech if the jury didnt believe you what would you do ?

Why the fook would anyone plead if they're innocent??

Does that make sense to any sane person who knows that the BAR STAFF would vindicate the story of self defence?? The prosecution would have to make liars of the bar staff too, surely?

*shakes head*

Wow...

'Wow' indeed.

I'm gonna guessthat you've never been up before the magistrates, got nicked for something you didn't do or been to crown court.

Then you must've had the 'take the charge and fine or face prison' speech?

Yeah, but then I was guilty and they had enough evidence that I had to accept it!!

The second time I was innocent. Got the lead questions by a smug tw@ barrister, but I took my time and dismantled the cnut. Thrown out of court.

I knew when I was beat and when I wasn't.

Well i can only admire your decision to take em on.
I took the guilty as charged options, even when innocent. If it kept me out of crown court then fines were ok.
