Thank you for that CinX, that is the square i was on about. I take it this is not Victory Square that our club web site advised us to go to.
Will you be joining us for a few scoops on Thursday.
Both squares have nice terraces. And they are also near from each other. If you go the Alba Iulia street after Victory Sqaure, you get to the Liberty Square, and if you walk further, you get to Unirii Square.
Not saying I wouldn't join you, I'm not sure, when I get off from work :-).

thanks CinX you seem to promote the city quite well, do you work in the tourism industry... i like the picture with the Ursurs beer on..what does that taste like is it a local lager or paint stripper
I don't work in tourism, I'm a software developer and a local guy. Ursus is actually from Cluj-Napoca, another city, but it bought our local beer 'Timisoreana', which is still available. I'm not really a beer expert, I would say the unfiltered one, if you can find it, tastes nice.

About tourism, it's kinda sad, because our country has many nice places, but we don't know to promote it. The guys from Top Gear did more promotion in the first episode of the last episode.

What about the student quarter? I've heard there are some good bars around here & a good atmosphere. Is it better then the town centre?
Student quarter is OK too, but it's vacation now, so not so animated now.
Here are some other nice places from our city:
You can use google translate for this, it's from the mayors website <a class="postlink" href="http://www.primariatm.ro/timisoara/index.php?meniuId=8&viewCat=144" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.primariatm.ro/timisoara/inde ... iewCat=144</a>

Here are some pictures from a blog some visitors from Cluj made them when they visited our city <a class="postlink" href="http://picasaweb.google.ro/sawrad/PrinTimisoaranoastra?feat=flashalbum#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://picasaweb.google.ro/sawrad/PrinT ... lashalbum#</a>
We also have many parks <a class="postlink" href="http://www.google.ro/images?q=timisoara_parcuri" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.google.ro/images?q=timisoara_parcuri</a>
The Bega river crosses our city <a class="postlink" href="http://www.google.ro/images?hl=ro&q=timisoara_bega" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.google.ro/images?hl=ro&q=timisoara_bega</a>
