Bit of a dilemma now, where do we play him?! At CB he's probably as good if not better than any other CB bar Kompany. Richards has been playing better, but straight away after swapping round Boateng puts that delivery in! Richards would never do that. Boateng is going to be awesome, he's 6ft 3 but surprisingly fast and amazing crosses!

I guess it depends who plays worse Lescott or Richards. He will replace that player. Oddly as it sounds I would guess that Richards would play better that Lescott, if the preseason is to be believed.

Lescott looked a bit shakey to me tonight.

I think he still lacks a bit defensively, in his positioning and so on, but that can easily be worked on if he has a brain. Looks very, very promising.

Considering he is 21 his quality is shocking.

In the years to come he will become a world-class defender. And what's scary is that he could do it at 2 positions.

His potential at the World Cup was for all to see, his run and cross was reminiscent of some of the things he showed the WC. You know a defender has talent if he is able to play centre back and both full back positions will ease despite, and only 21.

Dare I say for all the money we've spent, the cheapest one could be the most important?

Mabey play Richards at RB? The best of both worlds.

Hell of a statment that Sam, the kid looks a good prospect but he's never played in the premiership and tonight he knocked the ball ahead of himself.. 10-yards outside his own area and between the sticks, with an opponent 2 yard away. If anybody other than the new kid had of done it then they'd have been lambasted. The last Valencia defender simply refused to close down the very small space in order to drive him wider and refused any resistance to the flight of the cross...good run, good cross but if it's unchallenged then really they should be able to cross a football...thier professional footballers, it ain't golden boot tackle.
