Bobby Manc...anyone had a real change of heart ??

I certainly had my doubts up to and including the game at Anfield and I still maintain he had some luck, with the way Arsenal & (to a lesser degeee) Spurs imploded towards the end of the season. We certainly didn't look more than the sum of our parts overall last season.

But I've also always said it takes three seasons to get things right as you bring in the players you want and mould them into the team you want. The players we have are all settled now and Aguero was the only new player in the starting line-up yesterday. So I always thought we would start to see the real City this season but even I've been a bit shocked at just how good we seem to be.

It's early days though and our major failing last season was on the road against the better teams. But we stood up well to a physical battering from Bolton (who also played very well) and who I would expect to be a top half finisher. It won't be such a physical battle against Spurs but that wil lbe the first real test of how far we've come since last season.

Certainly on one level I've had a change of heart. I don't dislike the guy, which I did for most of last season.

i'm sure you'll be back to dislike him if we'll lose at spuds , that can happen.

Why Billy?
How can you dislike him?
I've been here since 1970 and he is one of the 'most likeable' we've had in that time

I've been converted.

I was worried toward of the season we'd slip up, as we've done in the post but the way we won all the important games to finish 3rd and win the FA Cup. Then we've started well this season. Credit to the guy. Bring on Spurs next.

What gets me is fans are so fickle 3rd and fa cup win! What does it take to have no doubts in a manager?

We have had some garbage managers in the past, we have a good one now hope he stays for a very very long time...

surely it is fickle to complain about him then bum him to death when we win the fa cup and get 3rd?

the use of the word fickle is completley wrong

I've NEVER said anything negative but he's a quality manager(check my posts) so I'm not fickle it's the anyone who question him now!

Absolutely not. Said from day one I was delighted with his appointment and had every faith he would win us a trophy and get us in Europe. I believe he will win us the league at some point, hopefully this season, but who knows?

To paraphrase The Monkees "I saw his face and became a believer". Best manager (capability-wise) we have had since 1976 - thought I guess that's not necessarily as glowing a reference as I'd like it to be!

The football. It was mind numbing at times. Honestly that's the long and the short of it. I realize that in the end the ends justified the means, and that ultimately is all that matters.

:- )

I'm happy being happy!

Seriously though, skepticism isn't a bad thing in any walk of life. The key is to be fair. I know it can have felt like some of us were being unfair on Roberto last season, but I don't think we were. Everyone on this forum (apart from the obvious) is a Blue and we all want what's best for City. Football supporting is an emotional business and I for one hope that we keep that on this forum and don't become a sea of banal pleasantries. Praise when it's due, but criticism when it's due too.

Yeah I know mate... after the takeover expectations were raised high.. people expected us to do better immediately... doesn't work like that, Mancini needed time.

Having seen so much crap in 35 years since our last 'win'... some of the older blues recognised that Mancini is a great manager... given some of the clowns we've had!

Keep Happy Billy!

Every game, home and away, the fans sing his name.

"All my mates down the pub and anyone with an ounce of knowledge about City, football or just life in general say he's took this club forward and is continuing to do so at a good pace whilst molding 'his' team. Anyone who says otherwise obviously lives in a cave (with internet access) drinks shandy and never, ever watches football in person."

Did i get that right? ;)

Does anybody drink Shandy any more?

I haven't had one of them in years, might nip out for one. Remember the Bass Shandy in cans? That was fucking awful.

I actually had a few shandies on holiday last week. Perfect in 40 degree heat by the pool!

I had a can of American Cream Soda the other day. Best drink in the world, if you can still get it.

never had a problem to be honest.

but at the moment it seems it's the other way round to last season.

las season i always worried we wouldn't score enough, but always defended brilliant and won't conceed.

now this season i think we can score for fun, but ain't defending very well.

I'm another one who had grave doubts over mancini, too many games where we never looked like scoring, playing too deep with no pace in midfield..liverpool away was a real low point and I thought that we wouldn't finish top 4 never mind beat united...but the united victory and subsequent end to the season really breathed new life into the team and led me to think that maybe mancini had learnt a few lessons and this season we would really kick on. So far, delighted....yesterday was a joy to watch although i wish he would stop moaning about the defence (he obviously wants a new centre half before the window closes)....richards should have got closer to petrov but a quality finish from there fella and as for davies, he's always a handful. However I still wonder whether if de jong hadn't got injured against swansea, whether he would have kept two upfront to bring aguero on...for me barry came into his own against bolton without de jong.....play him when needed but for my part with our strikeforce, we don't that extra cover for a large majority of games in the prem.

roberto mancini is the next marcello lippi... its as simple as that... hope he stays with us for a very long time and acheive everything with city like lippi did for juve...

really like how he played the whole team (including bench players) to take part of the 2 games so far .. well except one player!
