Why does he keep on waving an imaginary red card?

why not

Exactly. 99% of football fans in this country will have at one point chanted "OFF! OFF! OFF!", how is that any different to the manager waving an imaginary card?

Answer; it's not.

Players surround the referee to complain, managers wave imaginary cards and fans chant, that's the way it works.

So yo didn't mind Shrek et al surrounding Foy the other week?

The media miss a big point with Roberto. He's a very quick witted guy, and is taking the piss out of Foy's incompetence in waving his hands as if to brandish a red card. I don't think for a minute he's trying to get the Wigan or Liverpool player dismissed, but simply using the moment to embarrass the official and press home the injustice he feels.

No players surrounding the ref is invading their personal space. Fans and managers shout shite all the time but the ref does not have to bother with it. What rooney did was psychological battering of the ref and it results in a poor decision from a poor ref.

Mancini is probably fed up of the little niggles Micah keeps getting. He was superb against Utd and Liverpool in 2nd half and then another "slight" injury. This is what was gleaned from a recent Daniel Taylor article in the Guardian:

When Micah Richards limped out of the 3-0 defeat of Stoke City last month, Mancini was asked about the defender's injury and tapped his glass. "Cristalli," he said. "He's fragile, every game." There was mild impatience in his voice, a reminder that absentees get no sympathy. "He hates injured players," the ostracised Wayne Bridge said recently. "He will be like: 'No, they should be out training, it's not as bad.'"

It was a good article, Taylor and Winter seem to have an insight into what goes on at City more than most journos. Article link below if you missed it.
