Bodo/Glimt (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

Excuse me.

As a happy clapper I was leaning to think that every now and then, el Señor Josep Pep Guardiola, in all his tactical genius, gives away a derby or so to the scum. Next the rags, automatically by way of their dnas entitlement, start feeling secure, and with their scummy problems suddenly solved, another corner turned, pundits and beeb ziononces creaming at the prospect, et cetera. Caretaker manager allowed more time, in spite of failure looming on the swamp's horizon, to no avail.

Not today.

Agree with all that but let’s face it - Alleyne was a liability, Ait Nouri nowhere to be seen for the first 2 goals, Khusanov has pace and can defend but is a hothead. So yes little protection but they were shit including the keeper for the first goal
Can't blame Dona for anything recently, nobody is perfect but he's been 8/10 for both the last games

Again though, we’ve had the best there is, sometimes you simply can’t replace that as they aren’t there to replace.

You don't replace the likes of David Silva and Kevin de Bruyne. Best I've seen in a City shirt (with Bell) in my lifetime. There is no fourth. We've been very, very privileged.

You cannot blame the youngsters.
You can blame Rodri. Stupid foul that fucked the team.
You can blame Foden, yet another awful, can't be arsed performance.
You can blame Haaland, yes I said it, he doesn't work hard .
The midfield left the back 4 exposed.
Pep, insisting OReilly attacks leaving huge holes in the defence.
Awful, dog shit performance. Fans paid over a grand to go out there and watch a team that wasn't arsed

This why have we gone back to side side back back shit we're been counter attacked 1-nil down.
Like you say Haaland, Foden Cherki all playing great with smiles on their face.
I go back to Cherki cheeky pass to Foden, Pep said something along the lines he didnt really like that. Since then the players and the team have fallen off a cliff, no smiles, players look fucked off.

Im bored of watching back back side side back back. I have seen how this team can play with excitement, skill, tricks and smiles. Pep doesn't seem to like this style
Sorry but Im with Pep on this.....serious players dont do that shit...Messi didnt, David Silva didnt do anything he didnt need to, neither did KDB.....At present Cherki is akin to Mario Balotelli without the mad/crazy streak.

We dont have serious players....Reijnders is the best example of this - he is literally a ghost on the field.....he has done NOTHING since the only game he played well which was his first game vs possibly the worst premiership team in history in Wolves.

I going to make a prediction.....Alt Nouri will prove to be an equally bad signing....

Worst European game since Lech Poznan many years ago. Derby day hang over plus. For their 1st goal 2 attackers unmarked. For their 2nd - slight improvement - just 1. Haaland swimming in treacle all night. Foden and Reindeer anonymous.Only Cherki above par. We'll struggle to get top now and Rodri is suspended. Alleyne now confidence shot.

We try a shot from distance, and hey presto, we score ...... I wonder if Pep's clever enough to think it might just work if we do this a bit more more often ?

What an absolute feckin tool Guardiola is! He plays the Left Back at Right Back, the Right Back goes in Midfield, and the natural Midfielder ends up at Left Back. He then watches the 2 inverted full backs offer nothing going forward and even less defensively, as Rodri and the 2 young Centre Halves are overrun. Meanwhile the front are so isolated they actually forget they are playing for City and don't even attempt to defend.

He watches this for 45 minutes and it still doesn't click. We get to 68 minutes and are 3-1 down and he still stands clueless overseeing this shit before making a change. Even then, he doesn't put on Doku, who can occupy 2 defenders, but preferring to put a bloke whose spent more time on planes recently, than he has training, and just how can any manager when requiring goals, leave Rico Lewis on for 90 minutes? Everything about Guardiola is skullfucked and defies logic.

What we have witnessed today and last weekend is as bad, if not worse than anything we ever witnessed under Stuart Pearce.

Don't let Rodri's red card disguise this, what we are witnessing is the end, and there is nothing worse than a long lingering death. We could have been beaten by 6 goals in each of the last 2 games and he just doesn't get it.

In short, if Guardiola had anything about, him would fuck off tonight as his race has long since been run.

Spot on

Think there is a template now for all teams on how to play against a possession based team who play a high line! Pep has seen it now for around 18 months not come up with anything! When we we did have possession football teams rarley over commit players now they have 3/4/5 players running at our back 2/3 line! Pep as seen it and all I’ve seen how he is trying to counteract that is don’t make will passes play safe have an extra touch pass it back! Problem is it slow us down teams defend deep and will press us well can pass out from our press easily! Possession football is dead for me for the time being! Yep 2/3 up keep the ball not when it’s 0-0 or chasing games..
Totally agree with you. So with stubborn Pep, what is the wayforward?
I am sick of players passing the ball sideways and back when they needed to pass forward to score.

A week or so ago we were unbeaten in 13 and just beat a tough Newcastle side away from home.
A few injuries later and we've collapsed. We've had too play guys who are 4th or 5th choice defenders so we're bound to be weaker at the heart of defence. And we've had to play rodri who is hopefully just not 100% fit and ring rusty rather than finished:-0. Not having a settled spine of the team is always a major issue for any club. Plus some guys are just woefully out of form, phil is the major concern for me, and he's been nowhere near his best most of the season.
More Worryingly is that Pep doesn't seem to have the answers to our issues it seems.
we seemed to have reverted back into the slow ponderous possession based game again recently, when before we were more direct which suited big erl. He's looking a bit disgruntled now and I can't blame him (but then again he isn't exactly busting a gut for the team either)
There's a lot wrong at the moment.
How long is dias out for?? He's not perfect but we need his experience

Im resigned to the fact now that pep will never learn. He thinks his football is the be all and end all because it worked in the past. He will be telling us he "needs his players back" soon. Despite spending a lot of money in the last year to rectify his players missing with injury. The high line at old toilet with a make shift back 4 was bad enough but to do it again in the next game against a far inferior team and watch it being destroyed is just negligence on his part. His football was superb and an unbelievable joy to watch. However he had the luxury of umpteen world class players and an opposition that were beaten before they had even kicked a ball because they knew they didnt have an answer to our play. Well times have changed and now even bodo glimpt, a team thats never beaten english opposition, a team thats in its pre season and is not full of international players can out fight, out run, out think, out score us, can not only go toe to toe with us but rip us apart easily. And pep stands there with no answer suggest to me things need to change.

I think blaming Alleyne in the match thread for the goals is short sighted. It was a plastic pitch & before anyone says he should have practised on it ill say yes but when? He just moved house from Watford with 1 days notice to get back to Manchester and play every 3 days with a trip to Newcastle thrown in, and a derby then to go to the north pole. Give the lad a break.... forget tonight and regroup for Wolves. A win will make us all feel better....players will be back from injury soon...we need to stick together and stop all this Pep out rubbish its just kneejerk fc back in the house....some in the match thread saying pep out so i click on their profile joined 3 days ago ha ha bye bye fans of other clubs. City have made massive strides the last 15 years and will make more very soon.
