Bodo/Glimt (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

Injuries, inexperience, low confidence and a bad attitude were more relevant. And bad luck. Sometimes everything that can go wrong does go wrong in a game. We invited the defeat on ourselves by not treating the game seriously. We played like Man Utd do with airs and graces and came a cropper and were too weak to put it right. Our title winning sides sometimes started games on the wrong foot but had enough quality to turn games around. This side was unbalanced. It was not Pep's fault.
Pep is complicit with his team selection and tactics which the players didn’t appear to have confidence in RAN with so few appearances and he plays him RB An inexperienced defence playing high line with no MF protection same as Saturday etc

Just had a look at tomorrow’s fixtures and the final group fixtures. We’re in a bit of bother. If tomorrow’s results go as expected, we will be down to 13th!!! Level on points with PSG in 8th but with a far lesser goal difference. So let’s say we beat Gala. PSG v Newcastle is the only game involving those above us so we’d go above one of those. Atalanta have Union away. 50/50 that one. Real have benfica away but they’ll be allowed to win that no problem. Dipper have Quarabag at home, easy win. Athletico have Bodo at home so they’ll win that. Spurs have Frankfurt (who are having a shocker) away so 50/50 there. Chelsea’s have Napoli away. Hoping for a Napoli win there. Barca have Copenhagen at home so no help there. And Sporting have a poor Athletic away so favouring Sporting there. So if we say realistically Chelsea loose, one of PSG or Newcastle loose (a draw would be brilliant), and one of the 50/50’s go our way (preferably spurs loosing or drawing) That would put us in 10th. Then it would be a goals difference battle between us (+4) Barca (+4) and Sporting (+5) for the final spot - and that’s only giving them a 1 goal win tomoz. Not looking good at all in that scenario. Our g/d is screwing us. So we need a couple of big shocks tomorrow night or I recon we are buggered.
Tomorrow Atlanta have Athletic at home, Athletico have Gala away, dippers Marseille away, Newcastle PSV at home, Chelsea have Pafos at home and Barca have Slavia P away. Not holding out much hope for any of those. Just hoping Slavia can keep it down to one or two.
Basically after all that drivel - we’re pretty fucked and it looks like a play off.

Yep. Great post written after thinking about what we’ve been seeing over the past year or so. It’s going nowhere this tippy tappy stuff. What’s Linders and Toure doing? Thought they might have had a bit more influence. And our corners are probably the worst in the league.
Surely this is the low point. With Guehy in defence on Saturday I’m expecting 3 points and a turnaround in our performances going forward.
Up the Blues!
It must be difficult for our players to cross the road because they seem afraid to put a cross into the box. The amount of times we get into a good crossing position with players in the box but recycle it sideways or backwards is beginning to do my nut in. The few crosses that were put in tonight caused problems but we had the opportunity to put many more in.

Our delivery from corners is utter wank compared to arsenal. Theirs come in with pace, a good height, inswinging and bang on the money. Ours are floated in and not accurate more often than not. When we actually take a decent corner we are dangerous but how often do we take a decent corner? About one in five at best.

This was our England Iceland game, people watching in the pub(blues) weren't angry they were openly laughing how bad it was. This wasn't a Bayern, Madrid. It wasn't a smash and grab. It was a humiliation.

It was akin to Pee Wee Herman kicking the shit out of Mike Tyson.

Foden's corners are shite...too short on Saturday n too long tonight. Does anyone know what one arm or two arms held up actually mean ? Cherkki's are a bit more quality but fuck me as a pro footballer they have to put it on the money. They must practise 50+ a day

Just put us out of our misery and get knocked out. We’ve got absolutely zero chance of winning it so save us more humiliation, time and money .. and just fuck it off

Guehi and Semenyo can play in the knockout stages and if we actually get some injured players back....and keep them fit....who knows? I am worried some of our players aren't up to it though. They are what Pep called Happy flowers players.

A corner is made dangerous by the players getting to the ball first without being bullied out of it by the defence.

It's important to get as far as we can to earn money so we can buy players that aren't good enough or Pep can mismanage

Been saying this for months. Put pace on the ball, miss the first defender and aim for some bugger with heading skills. Even the rags manage it with McGuire. The best corner taker in recent times we had was Tommy Doyle.

Imagine playing a left back on the right, just so you can somehow play your pet project. And then, when he's clearly fucked, keep your CDM on, who, due to being fucked, gets a fucking red card!!! I love Pep, but just like the CL v Chelsea, I fucking hate him.
