Because you can not tell the difference between a genuine hardship case and professional scammer. Unless you want to run a survey before handing money over?
There are numerous charities and support available from the LA and housing options but it's a process.
No one can expect to rack up at the local Town Hall and say give me a house and they say here you go then and handover the keys.
The chances of these 2 buying the winning ticket too! I suggest they have been spending a fortune on lottery tickets using money obtained fraudulently.
It just emphasises how people like these 2 undo a lot of good work and good will from the general public. Stories like this are depressing actually.
