Boooom

Well you never know with transfers as there have been a few that we've been very close to doing but that have fallen through at the last minute for one reason or another. But it wouldn't come as a shock if we got Gundogan, Laporte & Stones as all these appear to be pretty well done. Sane also seems to have been well trailed. None of these appear to be either/or buys, so it's not like it's one of Laporte or Stones. That's £140-150m for starters.

We know about Pogba, who'd probably cost us something close to £100m plus there appears to be another very big deal in the pipeline that we've been working on intensively for a while. If we pull off just one of those we could be looking at £250-300m and £400m if we pull off both. And then there's the left back position with Danny Rose in possibly in the frame. So that's another £35m or so at a guess.

It seems that the club are prepared to sanction that level of spend as they weren't happy with last season (and that's being kind) plus I'd guess they feel they need to give Pep the best possible chance of success. There could be a lot of competition for those top four spots next season and we not only have to be there but have to leave any opposition trailing in our wake.
So in short, we're going to blaw everybody aaht the warta!

So its think of 5 players you would love City to buy (excluding Messi and Ronaldo and of course the annual Buffon connections) perm any 3 of them and bingo!

think the Gundogan announcement delay would be in part because we are announcing Laporte as well ? :D

Not my money and all that but surely football will soon collapse into itself if Danny Rose is valued at 35m.

If Danny Rose is worth £35m, I could be worth £15m, and I haven't kicked a ball in anger for about 15 years, ridiculous if we pay anything like that for him, however I can't see Spurs selling him to us anyway.

His appearance stats aren't anything special either, he averages about 30 games a season, is that because of injury ?

Correct.

I'd say that's 50/50 at the moment.

If the deals that are done or well advanced all come off then we'll spend that (and those don't include Pogba). There are other potential ones that could push that to well over £400m. Even if Pogba doesn't happen we could easily end up spending something like £375m this summer I believe. Add Pogba or Kroos in and that could be £450m+.

We couldn't spend much the next couple of summers if that's the case unless there's some huge new commercial deals in place but the fact we feel confident that we can spend that amount in one hit suggests there might be some on the way.

But we failed FFP when we were confident we'd pass it, and it left us in a precarious position for at least one summer.

Should we spend such a huge total this summer, is there any reason to fear being in a precarious position in future due to a similar miscalculation?

We didn't fail FFP because of any miscalculation - we worked with UEFA to monitor our progress only for the FFP rules to be changed at the last minute - we were set up by the big clubs who demanded that we were punished and the only way to do that was to change the rules at the last minute. Totally unethical.

If Danny Rose is worth £35m you're worth at least £70m.
