I think the daily message of “he’s in good spirits” was the wrong one. They should have been up front and honest, which may have made more people sit up and take notice.
He says it was touch and go at one point, for fuck’s sake! That’s not “precautionary”.
I’ve said this previously, but I feel like since Boris went into hospital, some people have acted as if “the boss is away so we can get away with more” and have flaunted the part-lockdown rules. I think playing down the seriousness of his illness didn’t help with this neither.

I think the harsh truth would have been a better message!
I also think telling the truth is better because we all see Raab and Co with a bit less trust now we know they weren’t telling us straight.
But good to see him out of hospital and hopefully people start to listen to the leader when he’s back.
