Boris Johnson

Reading some of those Twitter replies makes me realise that many people have no idea of either the Constitution or Parliamentary Privilege.

For example, an MP can stand up in Parliament and call you/me/Johnson a paedo, murderer or traitor and there is no legal redress unless they repeat it outside the House.

A PM or Party Leader has no special privilege in his/her role as an MP - Parliament is supreme and can suspend any member it chooses to suspend, irrespective of their status as one of the King's Ministers. Indeed, the right of Parliament to hold Ministers to account, to the point of impeachment, goes back to the time of Edward III.

Or maybe we should have a system where every MP has to actually win their seat rather than the privileged and well-connected are basically handed a safe seat that would vote for a courgette if it had a blue ribbon on it.
Same thing.
