Borussia Dortmund (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

I don't know what game you were watching Savinho wasn't good at all
Giving the ball away, not finding the players in box and hitting the first man all the time
Just being useless as a winger

Plus pointing out the Cherki comes on for less time that that clown deserves and scores and makes things happen

I don't know what I have said wrong as I think Cherki is more effective that Savinho. Due to everytime I watch Savinho he isn't effective at all and should of sold him i. The summer

Sorry
Watching same game as you and I thought he had one of his better games

What an enjoyable watch ... brilliant 1st half where our press was so so good ... great energy and cudda scored more ... Savio was incredible and showed that there's a serious player in there somewhere ... 2nd half changed when Dortmund made all their subs which gave them a new impetus ... great night and bring on the filth ... onwards and upwards ...

We seemed to take our foot off the gas at 3-0, and all that achieved was to let Dortmund in for a goal, and it led to them having a fair bit of possession ..... it made for a fairly nervous last 20 minutes or so, until the Cherki goal finally killed them off.

Why is Ronaldo shown as a united player in that list ? Surely he got most of his goals for Madrid.

Just checked. Only 21 of those goals were for United and he doesn't currently play for them so the only excuse forv even mentioning them is to shoehorn them into a discussion about world class goalscorers

For about 50 minutes, that was the best City have been going forwards in years. Created loads of opportunities and lots of fantastic play by the front 4 & Reijnders. It was nice to see the pretty attacking patterns doing the damage as well.

We dropped a bit second half and couldn't match their intensity after their subs - Pep & the players didn't manage the game well from about 60ish minutes. However, Donnarumma was great in goal and then Cherki was magic.

At 3-0 (even 2-0 after HT), we took our foot off the gas and resorted to no risk football. The game wandered and Dortmund got a bit of a foothold and confidence and pinned us back. Again we were found a bit leggy when a team gets the jump on us with multiple subs. We should have made the 3 subs 10 minutes earlier. Doku was consistently playing us into trouble and Reinders could not run.
Donarumma is a massive present at the back and made crucial saves. Thought Stones did well too.

Don't think he was good all game
What?

He was brilliant. Sav had the Dortmund RWB shitting himself every time he had the ball. Savinho utterly destroyed him.

If you don’t think Savio had a good game, maybe you’re watching the wrong sport.

Well if anybody wanted proof that xG is the most contrived, pointless stat yet, there it is.
All it does is reveal the quality of chances both teams had in the game. Teams have been using it for 15 years behind the scenes with great success.

Brentford in particular have climbed from League 1 to the PL using xG to their advantage. It's literally just the football version of the Moneyball strategy.

Entertaining game, with four very good goals. Lot's of good performances but if I'm allowed a whinge I wish we didn't switch off defensively nearly every game we play and allow a soft goal, although it was a nice finish from the lad, but the cross got into the box far too easily for my liking.
