Borussia Dortmund (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

This is his third rebuild. Possession is less important and he is encouraging ball-carriers like Cherki, Nunez, Doku, Foden, O’Reilly, Gonzalez. It is a radical change in formation and system. The media morons have not woken up to what is happening yet. This will be a great team, perhaps not till next season. Fantastic to watch the transition.
I'm not really sure that Pep will see it that way. At the minute I don't think he's getting hung up on ball possesion as this team finds there feet but it's all phases. As the team grows in confidence and connections are built all over the pitch, I think Pep will want them to have more control of the game at times. For instance last night we gave away a cheap conceded a goal and then for 10/15 lost control of the game. Pep will want the team to attack quicker at times but when we're leading he will want much more control than we have shown at times

I genuinely believe we are now have the players and the setup to be the perfect counter attacking team. I really hope we do it more often.

With the pace, lethal finishing and free flow we have when we are moving at fast tempo going forward, plus the ability to suck teams in by pep's possession based game at the back, it's the perfect combination to hit teams on the counter.

Plus it's so much more effective and exciting than trying to pass our way through the centre of packed defenses.
And what do you do when sides park the bus. Bournemouth and Dortmund are atypical.

I don't know what game you were watching Savinho wasn't good at all
Giving the ball away, not finding the players in box and hitting the first man all the time
Just being useless as a winger

Plus pointing out the Cherki comes on for less time that that clown deserves and scores and makes things happen

I don't know what I have said wrong as I think Cherki is more effective that Savinho. Due to everytime I watch Savinho he isn't effective at all and should of sold him in the summer when we had the chance.

Sorry

I'm not a Savinho fan, but he was very good in that 1st half

Win our two last home games and Bodo gives us 19. 2-4th got 19 last season, 8th got 16 and 9th had 15 points.

More may be needed this time, and 2 wins, a draw and a loss may do it on 17. GSK looking like direct rivals, RM of course, if we lose both and end up on 16 I can't see it being enough for top 8.

11 was enough for top 24 least least, another win should secure a play-off

You lost me in the middle - who's GSK? Do you mean PSG?

The one thing I noticed last night more than anything was our first touch passing out of tight positions. Probably the best I've seen for a long while. This team is coming along nicely.

Foden is a special player and when he's in that number 10 role defenders fear him, Never again should he be pushed out wide for the sake of just getting into the team,
I think we have found Kevin's natural successor in the central attacking rôle.

Phil had an off season last term, as did most of the squad, for reasons that have been discussed at length in other threads, but he looks, if not back to his best, then very close to it.

He’s 25 now, and he is ready to step up and take on the more senior position he holds within the squad.
