Boston, USA

My other half comes from syracuse northern new york,i've spent quite a bit of time in boston. Boston is a great place it has everything, we are going to buy a place next year and move. The duck tour on a hot day is a good laugh, and lot's of great bars and the iconic fenway park is a must for a 1 off visit.

As the above people have said m-e-s will know all the info, ffs dont mention the smiths to him, he will bore you senseless;)

It's a lovely city, there are some good pubs as well as historical sites. The Faneuil Hall is a fascinating place as well as the Old State House, which are both included in the 'Freedom Trail'.

But it is not all history, the Duck tour as Ste1969 says is a great experience as is the hop on hop off bus tour. The city centre reminds you of our own towns, as it is more higgledy piggledy than 'normal' American cities. I loved it.

P.s. I didn't know there was a Kennedy Library, knew about, although didn't visit, the Edward Kennedy Institute.

Boston is a great city - has some great theatres like the Wang and the Orpheum - seen Morrissey at both of them.... ;)

It really is as some one said, a big city but small at the same time.
Great walks around the city centre and the Italian quarter is great at night, as are the bars around the TD Garden (Boston's equivelant of the MEN Arena) when the Bruins or Celtics are playing.

Transport is very safe, reliable and cheap to get around.
Drop me a PM when you are coming and can give you more info and meet up at a bar if City are playing (or Morrissey!)

Joking aside, their are some good gigs I'm lined up to see soon, Belle & Sebastian, The Specials, New Order, OMD. The Stranglers played last week!

You can bring me some Marmite and Heinz salad cream over....

Cheers for the response, and everybody else.

Looks like I'll be there for a few nights mid September so will look to put together an itinerary based on some of things mentioned above.

Thanks all again. Appreciated.

have a look at this and see what interests you - 25 things to do for free in Boston!
If you are fit, i recommend a walk up the Bunker Hill monument and a trip to the USS Constitution ship (both a walkable distance between them)

Also, if you fancy a day with a difference, (will take the whole day) get a ferry to Provincetown (or P Town to the locals!)
It is about 90 minutes from Boston to the very tip of Cape Cod - you will see whales on the trip.
You then get to spend a fair few hours in P Town - imagine Hebden Bridge next to the ocean. Very bohemian, very gay and a creative place, full of artists and galleries and eateries!
Then get the ferry back home!

Or you can get the train from North Station (where the TD Garden is) and take a trip to Manchester-by-the-Sea!

I'm going in July, it'll be my fourth visit.
Love the place, loads to do , a city you can walk around with tons of history.
Bars aplenty, good food options and nice enough residents.
The T is a dream to use for getting around , straight from the airport too.
One of my claims to fame was getting barred from Cheers!
MES, if you really want your Marmite and salad cream , I ll bring some for you.:)
