Bournemouth (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

The positives are we got 3 points & kept a clean sheet. Phil Foden was brilliant.

Second half was a lot closer than I would have liked and we rode our luck at times defensively.

Another meh performance

Another 3 points

Not particularly inspired but think it was always going to be a tricky game

Move onto the Derby which I think will be a difficult game

Bournemouth got what they deserved: nothing. As well as they did, City were better and actually scored. Bournemouth were not unlucky not to score and City were not lucky to score.
Take the blue tinted glasses of mate , the positive was we played so poorly and still took the three points , lets hope its a blip and despite a decent points return the last three games have been underwhelming against teams that last season we would have pummelled.
We are missing a fully fit KDB to open up teams and relying too much on Phil to provide the magic at the moment , will never give up on the league title but we need to shake off this wastefullness in front of goal.

Game of 2 halves, could've been 2/3 up at half time.

Credit their coach, he took Phil,Bernard & Rodders out of the game for most of the second half and pinned us back...we lost control.

However... 8/9 wins, clean sheet, no injuries, no card for Rodders and the out of town imposters next week .

"We're still on our perch,
We're still on our perch,
Fuck off back to Mon Ar Cho,
We're still on our perch" !!

Bournemouth had 13 attempts today and 9 of them were second half. Few misplaced crosses too. We lost control of the game. Rodri must be knackered now though. We can’t play him at Luton.
Exactly, worst I've seen Rodders, he needs a rest for the March schedule. If we have to sacrifice the FA Cup so be it,Lewis and Bobb need another run out.
Bottom line rather have 3 points, no good playing well and dropping points now.

Bang on. At this point, it's all about results. Performances, while a nice addition, are secondary.

That being said, a "blow them out of the water" type display next weekend would be very nice.
We HAVE to be up for that one, both first and second half. Blow them away and keep going, don’t stop or take the foot off the accelerator.

I’ll take the 1-0 over the 3-3, 4-4 stuff we were seeing earlier in the season. I’m hoping as usual it’ll click into gear for the run in and we’ll find that perfect medium.

Second half uncomfortable viewing and for once it looked like us that had fewer players on the pitch and we couldn't string passes together/keep possession. Fair play to Bournemouth, they worked their fucking arses off really and I couldn't have complained if they ended up with a point. They didn't, so onwards and upwards.

I'm mates with his son and he told me 2 weeks ago his legs had gone(which is very late stages) and he didn't have long left. Just didn't realise it'd be so soon. I'm just glad he's rid ot that shit house disease now. Terrible X
That is sad. I’m hazarding a guess he had prostate cancer?

The stats tell how we deserved to win the game. We had more passes, more possession, more shots, more xG, and ran more distance. Basically we won out in every positive stat.

But we made bloody hard work of it.

What the hell has happened to our midfield? Sluggish and very slow in transitions, 2nd half especially. City should have lost that game and I wouldn't have begrudged it. We spawned a win and somehow got a clean sheet with it. My glass is half empty tonight and I'm already looking forward to the derby. But not with Akanji in midfield, jesus wept.

Absolutely fantastic first half. Played some very clever unpredictable passes and looked like a well oiled machine. Nervy 2nd half but credit to Bournemouth who battled brilliantly, they’re certainly no mugs. Right, come on Newcastle!

Very challenging match in that second half, fair play to Bournemouth - they put a lot of ‘bigger’ teams to shame with that open style of play.

Ballsy champions-type performance though, getting back into the habit of clean sheets is no bad thing.

Stones fantastic, key that he stays fit for the run-in.

We are clearly not in our best form but, just as a reminder we have won 15 and drawn 2 of our last 17 games.

One game at a time blue boys.
