Bournemouth (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I've been saying for the last two seasons we'll hit the brick wall but every time I've been proved wrong but I think the performances and results of the past few weeks says it possibly could be this year.

No slagging off the team, pep, txiki or the club, it is what it is, we take our medicine and move on.

Anybody who even dares to attempt to slag off this team and this manager needs to give their head a wobble as they are clueless.

6 of citys starting 11 today started the Champions League final last year.
Don't think you can make out we didn't have enough to get something despite the injuries.
How many of them were fully fit? We were not good today. It's not excuse, fact!

Losing isn’t the problem, it’s the lack of effort from players who are being paid thousands. It’s the obvious weaknesses that haven’t been close to addressed for 2 years. It’s the putting KDB on bench and not using him whilst paying 400k a week. It’s the lack of using youth even when we obviously look slow and tired in the midfield from minute 1.
What has money got to do with it? It's a wonder you didn't say 'Overpaid prima donnas' too.

I couldn't watch the match today and so really can't comment on our performance. I have been concerned about this game because Bournemouth seem a very much underrated team and we seem to be seriously weakened by injuries. I was, therefore, quite surprised at the selection Pep fielded and was thus quite hopeful, and Arsenal's result made me more optimistic. This optimism took a knock when I heard that not one of the back four was actually fit to play and would not have played had there been any choice. I think the problem has been growing for some time - it's August since we last won a PL game by more than the odd goal and some of our opponents have not been exactly top quality

I can't listen to the radio commentary because it doesn't really give much idea of what is actually happening and the game wasn't on in the pub so I followed the live feed on the OS. The impression I got was that we were second best for large parts of the game and went two down without ever really being in the game. We did tighten the screw and dominated the game in its later stages. Gvardiol pulled a goal back late on and both Erling and Phil came close to getting the equaliser but over 90 minutes Bournemouth were deserved winners. Would those who saw the game agree with this summary?

I think we need the international break desperately, and need to keep players at home, or our season could be ruined. We have Brighton at home - another nasty match if we don't have a fit squad - before the break and then Spurs and Liverpool away after it so we need our injured lads fully fit seeing as Rodri is out for the season. And was KdB really on the bench today?! I thought they had no idea of when he could come back - so was he there just to warm a seat with no prospect of playing?

Yeah he's got to rectify them fucking injuries eh..
FFS we have players who you can see aren't anything like fully fit..Pep even said earlier that players are playing through the pain barrier.
Once we get players back we will be fine..just got to keep hanging in there until then.
Okay, injuries have been our only problem this season. You are completely right

We’ve not been at our best for weeks but we have managed to get over the line, the spurs defeat in midweek was on the cards and today was always gonna be difficult so no shame in getting beat. It’s the way we respond and the games before the international break are not easy. We move on together and some of our fans need to stop this entitlement of winning every game, we have had a tremendous run which most fans will never be able to comprehend.

Lack of effort? From this team that has gone again and again and again and again when literally everyone has written us off at various points over the last five years? This team is showing a lack of effort? Hahahaha.

So why the feck did you play him, he played like he didnt train for 19 years? Under 17 RB wouldn't play worse and you made fool of Kyle. He should have told you to sod off. That why I am saying our performances are clear reflection of Pep's mood and right now he is not in a good place.
The first season Haaland could not stop scoring and he was subbing him every single game. And then he started changing the whole tactics because of him making us more and more one-dimensional. And finally bad results started catching up with mediocre performances.

Oh dear. Let’s get into what they’re paid why don’t we.
I think we need to cut Pep some slack. He’s not done a bad job so far & after one league loss the team gets slated.
We do need at least one new player but we couldn’t have foreseen Rodri’s injury.

What you want to say is that anyone needed today should NOT have played on Wednesday. But Pep is between a rock and a hard place wrt injuries. I think that he made Walker play today. Lewis has played a lot of games. He will be needed in the CL game. A lot of players out there today have niggles. Easy to spot. You just cannot bring on youngsters at Bournemouth and run a risk of destroying their spirit. We've got to get through these next 2 games starting with CL on Tuesday.
Yeah, the not was missing but you got the gist.

I will be pissed off beyond belief when certain injury prone players accept the International call up after next weekend.

They have done it before but do you think it’s just on a never ending cycle?

Pep plays players who are out of form and/or not 100% fit. Pep gets fuck all! We got what we deserved. Why the fuck he didn't play Macatee is baffling. To stick with Gundogen is short sighted beyond belief. Walker? He should of gone last season for me, hes been phenominal but hes not the player he was. We've been sleep walking into this potential crisis..and by that, I mean very tired players, some past their best and now injury prone. The defence is looking very, very old and slow and Gvardiol is almost single handedly dragging them through. Peps small squad obsession is now biting him on the arse big time! We need youngish dynamic top class players ASAP, but City being City will wait until summer. I'm gutted, not just for the defeat, but because I seriously think it's going to get worse before it gets better. :(

Too many slow and non scoring one-paced, midfielders starting to look their age

They're not insurmountable but we've definitely got problems and they won't be resolved without dipping into the transfer market either in January or next Summer

This idea that it's just our traditional mid Autumn slum will soon be exposed as a total myth and our the only consolation is that Arsenal also lost.

We basically need a rebuild at the end of the season as a few players are coming to the end of their abilities/getting injured more often - Walker, Gundogan, De Bruyne immediately spring to mind, and if Pep is leaving too, we could be in a lot of shit next season.
If two of this new crop of kids make the first team regularly then we'll be lucky.
