Bournemouth (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Having now watched the game back, it's not as bad as I had feared reading reports and comments over the weekend.

We are in a unique position of having won four titles, weathering a storm with the charges and a hideous injury list any club would struggle with.

It's certainly been a sluggish start, but having not lost in the league since last December and repeatedly winning it, there's going to be a complacency filter in at times. Even as fans I'm sure we don't fear going behind in games or heading into the last 10/15 level as the players have carried us through so often.

I always feel with the main arguments on signings and injuries that we were going to struggle bringing players in this summer due to the impending case. We can all back the club, but asking players to risk years of their short career is a different matter.

The injuries, some is bad luck and some is more evidence of the schedule becoming too much for players. Foden etc had three weeks - we actually started the season still trying to rest players that went far into the Euros.

There's a problem coming with the sheer number of games, player welfare and saturation of football. I've noticed a distinct drop in quality this season. The new CL is just a super league with the the more acceptable UEFA badge on it, along with their pointless Nations League tournament that no one cares about.

PL clubs are now all reliant on huge television revenues that are stagnating. Yet the PL want clubs to comply with increasingly complex rules that create an apparent level playing field and force this weird hyper-capitalism onto the fans.

Back on point, our squad is tuned to play multiple roles and players rotate for each other throughout the season. That's why we can contend so often. We've lost key players early on and then asking huge amounts of players like Dias & Lewis. Even Rico couldn't start on Saturday due to the load.

Putting out patchwork teams makes these games much more difficult.

I hope we can get to January in touch, clear of this charges nonsense and bolster the squad with one or two. This may well kick us on.

Matey, it was one bad result

I would never question Pep and I believe in what he always says, One Game at a time
Also, he works with the players every day he knows how fit and ready they are and hates to gamble on a player.
Walker has not trained for 19 days but he had to play him because of the games coming up, Balancing the squad is hard when your injury hit and some players are carrying knocks,

We have 2 more games before the international break and Pep has to get to that point the best way he can.
maybe he's thinking the Champions League is the major game we need to win right now and protect players

One Loss that all it was
One loss that could, and maybe should, have been the fourth or fifth in a row!

We are a pale imitation of what we have been in the recent past, and while injuries have played a massive role in that, I think many people see the same things:

1) Recruitment has been poor for such an aged squad

2) EDS talent doesn’t get a look in most of the time and Pep’s substitutions boggle the mind at times

3) We are waaaay too slow to attack and often wasteful with the possession we have

4) Other teams have sussed out at least two ways to play us that we don’t like, and those teams are not always in the Top 6.

Matey get over it, We play again tonight

Nobody wins the title in November and Pep and City knows how to win titles

The symptoms don’t look great, but let’s hope it’s just the flu and not pneumonia, that’s all anyone is saying!
