Bournemouth (A) | Post Match Thread

We still have another couple of gears to go ,we played better at Forest , but we took some of our chances today , the commentators stressed how we have had a frustrating run of results ??
Four away games , to wins , two draws, nine goals , beat a team that has not lost at home this season and top of the league then drew with a team that has only lost one of their last twenty games.
Expect us to advance to the quarter finals of the F.A.Cup next week , one foot in the quarter finals of the Champs league and nicely placed to reel in a young Goon side with zero title winning experience

We all know as fans that we are not playing our best football , but its hardly the disaster the media are trying to paint, cannot see us putting a ten game winning run together but still expect us to be involved in the title race until the end of the season ,as for the Champs league you need favourable draws and a dollop of luck , after all its cup competition and its rare the best team wins them , the luckiest team like Real last season often succeed.

Happy enough with that - attacked with energy & pace. Also happy that squad players were able to get minutes

Bit sloppy and open defensively but Bournemouth aren't awful

Good performance.
Things got sloppy towards the end, which led to conceding the goal but suppose that's to be expected with the subs made.

Gundo was brilliant. Always found the half space and spread the out ball.

Thought Foden was meh, but then one sees his contribution in the stats and it makes one realize just how good he can be when playing well!

Glad to see both Haaland & Alvarez getting on the scoresheet when playing together.

Obvious drop in last 20 mins, but still created chances.

Looks like Eddie is losing his Golden Gloves after 4(?) straight seasons winning them! Interesting factoid, though…Eddie was the only player on the team who finished the game playing in the same position he started it!

Won by HT. Could have put them to the sword in the Second Half, but rest more important this weekend.

Loads of positives today. IMO the starting eleven is probably our best team at the moment. Lots of positive energy from Lewis and Alvarez in particular.

Good to see Perrone get a run out. Certainly didn't let himself down.

Bournemouth were ideal fodder for us to get Phil back into action, and he delivered the goods. Not 100% yet, but getting there.

Concerns...
Switching off defensively is unacceptable, no matter how far ahead we are.
Walker looks done. Can't see him holding down the RB slot much longer.
Phillips... Bloody hell. He looked like a 'play for City' raffle winner. Hopeless.
to be fair to phillips hes hardly played so will take him time to get going

Most of you are being blinded by the result imho.

I thought the performance was ok, nothing more.

However, we took our chances and that changes games and results.

Bournemouth we’re comically shit and will go down.

Thought Lewis had yet another really good game and his drifting into midfield suits Gundogan and gives him more licence to play higher up.

3 much needed points and really pleased to get back to winning ways.

Perfect summation.

i got to disagree on Lewis. positionally he struggled and i think he’s an average player (right now) in an elite team.

He should hopefully improve and physical development will help massively - i recall TAA for example getting roasted by Rashford at OT as a skinny teenager and now he’s much more physically imposing.

I actually thought we played better in the first hour against Forest or first half against Leipzig. Difference today was we took the chances. We're definitely showing closer to our best again although it's still a bit patchy. Hopefully we're just limbering up for the long run in

Might put a bet on us winning the treble. Not because we’ve been great this season but I’m just wondering if the odds might be better than in past years.

Yeah, nothing gets past him tbf. :)

Each to their own but you’re wrong on both of your points.

Lewis’ intelligence and positioning were very evident today.

TAA still gets roasted defensively pretty much every week. He might have bigger biceps nowadays but he still loses his man at the back post 15 times a game.
