Back to reality on Sunday.

Don’t know what to expect. Probably the same as before. Mainly doing well in spells, lots of passing with no real chances. Bournemouth to score off Kus’s backside and then onto camping out and getting hit in transitions.

Can’t wait -:)
Roll on the end of the season.

Why? There is still loads to play for, after 7 years of the extraordinary, this is normal and still could be a season considered by 99% of football supporters a good season.

Friend of mine who's a life-long Saint-Étienne supporter, when I said on the phone “Oh we're having an ‘off’ season, it was due”, he said “I'll take your off season every day of the week and twice on Sundays”. He meant it too. Saint-É, as they're called, used to be one of the powers of French football (finalists in the old European Cup in 1976, bloody good team too — even then I was totally for them against Bayern, the rags of Germany).

I predict lots of possession and a slow build up.
Then you haven't been watching City this season.

Yes City dominate possession, and the midfield play goes side to side a lot. This is the result of an aging midfield who can't play the killer passes and press like they used to, but there is a new feature of our game now which is spectacular wing-play. Doku and Savinho have fantastic take-on stats. They are the flair players of the Premier League and virtually unstoppable on the wings. The problem is that we are not turning their dominance of the wings into goals. I would say that this is not entirely down to lack of composure. However, it is completely wrong to characterise City as a boring side. We are an attacking side in transition which is a mixture of very old and very young.

City continually hit the wingers. They are more adept at beating their men that any other PL winners but so far it hasn't led to goals. Perhaps it's fair to say that it's not very fulfilling or exciting to watch when you know that Doku will beat 2 men, but get tackled by the 3rd, or cross it to no one. We are in transition. A work in progress. But the slow-build up characterisation does not do justice to the ability to dribble and beat a man.

Well actually I’ve seen all bar four games live this season so feel reasonably able to say I’ve watched city this season. I would agree with what you have said about attacking the wings post Christmas. The point you made about like of excitement is a big one for me, again particularly post Christmas. I can accept defeats but it’s the manner of them and the lack of desire, fight and genuine chances that have bored me this season.
