My worry is that without their best two players their teammates will want to win for them two and dig in even deeper. It happens in most together functioning close teams, sadly not a characteristic we've seen much of this season from our own team.
If a team that has never won a trophy really needs any incentive to get fired up in a match to reach a Wembley semi-final, then we're halfway there already.

Honestly can't see them being gee'd up any more just because of the injured lads

The Southampton home game was when I knew we were heading for a fall, truly dreadful peformance that day followed by:-
  • Spur 2 v City 1 (LC)
  • Bournemouth 2 v City 1 (PL)
  • Sporting 4 v City 1 (EC)
  • Brighton 2 v City 1 (PL)
  • City 0 v Spurs 4 (PL)
Yep - I've said it before, but when Pep said that he could learn a lot from Russell Martin, I thought he was joking...

Here's to a total mindset reset having taken place during the international break <fingers-crossed emoji>

Would love to see O’Reilly next to Nico in cm. Won’t happen though. Foden and Grealish to keep possession. Gvardiol deffo fit.
Eddie
Nunes Khuzanov Dias Gvardiol
O’Reilly Nico
Foden Marmoush Grealish
Haaland

Doubt he’s fit enough after 2 international games but if Kev was fit enough I’d put him in Foden position and play Foden deeper instead of O’Reilly
Foden is so poor at present that almost anybody from the Academy would be an improvement. I keep expecting to see the old Phil back but it hasn't happened. The best thing we could do right now would be to give him 2 months off and send him somewhere nice on a fishing trip before bringing him back for an extended preseason.

Just to let people know the 7:26 & 8:26 Piccadilly to Bournemouth have been cancelled in the morning.
Know a few booked on that 8.26am, almost did ourselves but decided to make a weekend of it, and we're now on the train just going past Basingstoke.
The guys booked on tomorrow's trains won't be too happy.

The problem with staying the bleeding obvious is……. Not doing the bleeding obvious

Can’t wait for next season to start most if not all your notes should be fixed … I hope
Take things slowly and think them through......then re post something intelligible.

I'm sure ? there could be something in there !!

Somehow I doubt it. Those few not on international duty/ on the treatment table have been holidaying. For about the 10th time this season. So imo 2 days ' training ' ( because I do wonder what they actually do - see corners taking/ defending, throw ins, free kicks, pks, defending - just all gash ATM so I don't expect much of an improvement tomorrow.

I honestly think pep says the right words but I don't actually think many in the team are that bothered about winning anything this season. Big wake up call if they don't get 5th CL spot and tbh it really isn't a given.

But then I hope I'm completely wrong and they turn up like a rejuvenated winning mentality team tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Are we at the classic "lost the dressing room point"?
Certainly feels like it sometimes.
How many players can you point at and think they give a flying fuck? Not all and not enough.

Which makes the CWC even more of a nuisance.

Of course I'll get caught up in it - despite myself - nevertheless I'd far prefer a full, old-fashioned off-season, everybody really getting to know each other and developing a proper club ethos again, something which has been completing lacking this year.

It's why most of the players that have been here and done it for at least 5 or 6 years have to go.

They are done at City from a fighting for trophies perspective. They have their medals, are multi-multi millionaires and look like a bit of drive has gone.

Just my opinion, but I do think there will have been a few hoping it was Peps last season. He works his players into the ground and I think some of the older heads would have likes a different approach and a new voice.

Get them out and rebuild.

Will we get beat tomorrow, most probably, will we show any fight probably not, will I be there cheering on the team, absolutely! Let’s create a decent noise and salvage something from this season.

Spot on.

Most of the seasoned players over the last 6 years or so are conditioned into usually winning. We used to be that good that the feel good factor gave them a buzz. Now we are fighting for every point, most of them can't be arsed. They've been spoilt with trophies over the last 6 seasons and the hunger to win more has finally deserted them.
