Bournemouth (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Not often you see 10 opposition outfield players in our half. Thankfully the chance they had hit the post and it stayed out.

The lineup was the tried and twisted and did the job. Bernardo was superb and fired up. Marmoush with a wonder strike.
Deadlier from 40 yards than 12

Same here. Will miss him but his time is finished here as we’ve seen on the pitch the last few weeks. Maybe I’m still scarred from when SWP left us to go to Chelsea. That fucking fucked me up!
I know exactly what you mean. Swps departure was so sad. Never seen a player who lived and breathed City
So much energy and determination. And he put it in,home and away, every match.Great memories.Great Player.

Great to send Kev off well and monumental to have Rodri back. You could feel the place lift and flood full of positivity when he started warming up.
I watched the match in a pub with a Sheff utd fan who was bemused by the crowds reaction to Rodris return
He said who is he God ?
I said ...well yeah,we call him Godri !!
Silence and blank look....

Has happened in almost every game this season. Our fullbacks plays good but gives the ball so loosely that the opponents punishes us. It has happned like 2/3 times per game
Most of those fullbals were Nunes and Givadiol. It happened yesterday as well.
Givadioal, Nunes and Akanji are good full backs but with 1/2 mistakes per game in them.
I think for them to sort it out they should think that they are proper fullbacks themselves rather than thinking I am a make shift Right back.

When the chips are down the boys in blue deliver again.
So, play at a faster tempo, mix it up with some long passes, stretch the play wide, and we win. Who would have thought it? Was that VK with the first strike?
Well done.
99% certain for the UCL now.

Pep has many things to do,to rebuild the team....otherwise, with such performance,we r just a middle table safe team ....FA Cup final, still hurts, just like last year, just like wigan game.....

Much better performance attacking wise and found Pep's comments on squad size interesting too.

But we created our own problems and what in other seasons would have been a 3-0 or 4-0 routine home win was put at slight risk due to a lack of awareness in passing, which directly caused Kovacic to be sent off and us to concede late on. Coming from Nunes and Gvardiol is worrying as they're experienced first teamers, but not surprising either as both are prone to concentration lapses.

I think the real decision now will be on which squad players can still be a part and which move on. I think we unfortunately have to be open to offers for the likes of Stones, Grealish and a few more, Having Bobb and Rodri come back will be a breath of fresh air, but we all know Pep likes a squad of around 19 and we're already bloated and talking about adding more.

But the win is the most important thing. That and saying goodbye to Kev. I do feel we will have to get something at Fulham though to get champions league.

We played better as a team but still contrived to hand Bournemouth chances of our own making.

Also I am starting to feel we might be a better team without that big gangly bloke up front who controls the ball like a hot potato.

Still a lot of work to do to get a team that can be relied on.

Very good post mirrors my views. I am hoping that lot in the Borough of Trafford show some pride and turn up for their fans (morons) at the Swamp this weekend.

A really good performance that also showed that the key improvement to make next season is the dealing with ultra-defensive setups. Generally speaking, the teams we have dealt with easily have come to play, as Bournemouth did. The teams we have struggled with are those who come to shut the game down. Marmoush showed the way with some long-range shooting, and we also played runners off Erling, who held the ball up well. Add those two qualities to our possession game and we will be fine. One player able to find others and play those visionary passes like Kev was once able to deliver and we are flying. I hope that is Oscar Bobb, and I have seen him do it, but it may be someone new - time will tell.
My MOM was Gundo, whose ability to bring the ball forward, retain possession, and create new passing angles with a quick pirouette, were all on show last night.

Eerls hold up play was good last night

Ok Pep wants a smaller squad. So he must get rid of the older guys and regular sick notes!! But brutal but needed!! First of all get two reliable full backs, stop messing about!!!
