Bournemouth Thread

Nobody pays me to sell it, we have roadworks all over and too many visitors when the sun shines. Fortunately I am a five minute walk from the edge of town
I live in Southbourne or SoBo as the locals like to call it? Never lived anywhere with so many roadworks - the town centre can resemble Venice. But the fans generally appear quite loyal, and I think they genuinely care for their team. It's a beautiful area and people make far too much of the ASB. Boscombe is far safer than most areas of the north and on a clear day you can't see a Rag or Kopite for about 20 yards.

Sadly Bournemouth town centre is looking a bit shabby these days and there seems a massive issue with homelessness.

It’s definitely on the decline over the last few years.

I think Covid has hit a lot of town centres. People working from home has impacted on shops etc and there seems a lot more empty units.

Still some beautiful places and as you say a lot more desirable than most places to live.

Kick Bournemouth, Brighton and Brentford out the Premier League and bring back proper premier league clubs like Sunderland, Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers.

The town centre was decimated by the closure of the big department stores that were there. The council also seem a big problem and appear unable to stop the decay of the area. Sad as I think Dorset is one of the nicest areas in the country. Westbourne and Southbourne both prove that local shops can prosper and not a Spoons in sight. I lived here in the 90s also when DW used to advertise in the local Manchester and Liverpool papers for people to live in his accommodation and now he's the biggest social housing developer in the area.

Those clubs got there on merit and the three you mention fucked it up themselves through either bad administration or shit footballing decisions.

I know mate, just let us re-live the nostalgia of the Prime Barclays era of the Premier League...

Yes hopefully the opening of the Ivy will signal a change in direction for the fortunes of the town but I’m not convinced by the location.

You are correct about Southbourne and Westbourne. Southbourne seems to get better and better. Obviously the beach is a fantastic draw but the main road, with the shops, works really well and the unit size also supports small independent coffee houses, cafes, gift shops. No real room for a massive chain to swallow the area and clientele up.

I do the love the vibe of Boscombe also. Real eclectic mix of people and most seems to rub along pretty well together.

Yes you see DWP vans everywhere now, esp round the Boscombe/ Springbourne area.

I think the town has a bit of an identity crisis at the minute. Stuff like the boxing events and all the bars are great but as you attract that clientele there is a risk you also alienate a lot of other people who would visit.

There's a vlog called Back of the Net and the two that run it really hate City and placed the Etihad as the worst away day experience
Nonsense. I’ve watched a few and they have praised City and our fans loads of time. Nothing to do with hate, they say it how they see it on the day.
