Manchester City defender Dedryck Boyata is close to signing for Dutch side FC Twente after finding his game-time limited at Eastlands.

According to Dutch daily De Telegraaf, the Belgian defender has been frustrated at the lack of opportunities in the Citizens’ line-up and is close to agreeing a permanent deal with the Tukkers. This comes after Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini failed to give him assurances that he will feature for the English champions regularly this season.

The Belgian finds his route into the Manchester City starting eleven blocked by fellow countryman Vincent Kompany and English centre-back Joleon Lescott. Now it appears the youngster has finally decided to abandon Manchester City in search of regular first team football.

The 21-year-old joined Manchester City as a teenager in 2006 and made his first appearance for the team in 2010 when he played against Middlesbrough in an FA Cup match. However, Boyata has found his chances limited at the club and has only made a total of 10 appearances for the Citizens in the Premier League.

It was due to this reason that the player was loaned out to Bolton Wanderers last season. However, the 6ft 2in centre back is seemingly looking for a permanent solution to his issue this time around and is ready to strike a permanent deal with the Tukkers.

would love 6 but i think it'll be 4

He is at the stage where he has got to be playing regular first team football which we cannot afford to give him. Twente is a good club, and who knows McClaren could develop him into a very good centre back.

I really can't see a world where Boyata's instincts increase ten fold and enough to make him something worth starting every other game. And if that is the case, we might as well cash in on his youth rather than watching his development cease and selling him on for 2 million.

We have to get used to the fact that 9/10 of our academy products won't make it. There is no shame in it either. Its just the nature of having a club in which some of the best 7 billion people in the world ply their trade for.

With Micah out for another 10 weeks and possibly longer, we need Boyota to stay at least until the January window.

Kolo will be backup to Zab. Can't understand why Savic is being sold though.
