Anyone else remember him..He ran on the pitch late on on the game when Morley equalised to send us up.

I am 100% certain I saw him last night in the South Stand Level 2....Made me chuckle thinking about that day many moons ago.
Can anyone confirm if he does go still etc? I cant post pictures of him as am at work.

i remember him though i doubt he would have all that hair today and if he did it would probably be grey 'lol'

Seriously mate-if it's him which I am pretty certain of,he has all the hair and hasn't changed on iota!!

I am sure that he was from Stalybridge

Thought he was from Hattersley , still not that far from Stalybridge.

Re: The Long Haired fan at Bradford 1-1....

Pretty sure he stood near us in The Kippax and think he was from Hattersley. Used to always shout "Put him in a body bag" when one of our defenders were tackling. Have seen seen him often since then down the years but not recently.

If he is from Stalybridge he will definitely still have the Bay City Rollers tartan jeans, he would still be wearing them.

Re: The Long Haired fan at Bradford 1-1....

Far more concerning is the fact that it was 25 years ago.

If we assume that the long haired pitch invader was at least 18 years old in 1989, then in all fairness we couldn't really ridicule his current appearance.
How many of us are still drinking in the same pubs with the same people?

Thought not.......

Having carried him shoulder high (with many others) around Albert Square at midnight after the game to the chants of ''we love you Jesus we do'', I can confirm without worry that he was well over 18 years of age at the time!

Re: The Long Haired fan at Bradford 1-1....

got a book here and he's on the front page, he has to be at least 25 so that would put him at 50 today, cant see it but you never know
what about the city fan with the tartan tammy hat, not sure if the hair hanging out was false, he was a reg in the kippax, the last time i seen him was on the pitch when we beat Birmingham 1-0 in the play off game at maine road

I remember this game very well. It was just a few weeks after the Hillsborough tragedy and the police had set up several road blocks and also a security cordon some 100 yards from the ground, so unless you had a ticket you could'nt get near the turnstiles.

I arrived by car and parked up well away from the ground at about 9am for the 3pm kick-off and bought a ticket from a Bradford fan for £20. That was'nt cheap in 1989! I was a season ticket holder but had missed out on the measly allocation we were given- i think the capacity was around 13-14,000 at the time there. I also remember the flowers some city fans had laid at the memorial to the fans who suffered in the 1985 fire, a nice touch.

Inside the ground in their end it was a strange atmosphere and as one person has already mentioned we congregated near the front, to our left of the goalposts. A fair few blues were there and we got no mither- even when they scored and it was obvious who we were.

The tension was unbearable with news that Palace were winning and we needed a goal. When it came at last we knew immediately that we were up- cue the (now) customary pitch invasion at the final whistle.

On my way out of the ground (via their new main stand) a Bradford fan grabbed me and gave me a hug, 'Well done, i hope you stuff United next season!' he said. We both shared another hug, shook hands and that was it.

The following season i thought of him as we beat the rags 5-1. That's another story.

I went in the car with my younger brother. I knew beforehand about the road blocks and cordon as it had been widely publicised. As such we both decided to go dressed in suits, shirts and ties....so as not to look like City fans. The disguise worked and we got through the road block just off the M62 and through the cordon by going through pretending to be with some Bradford City kids. Outside the ground we recognised a few touts and bought tickets....childrens not adults....Bradford end not City end! We managed to swap and trade them for two adults in the City end, despite our suits looking like we were the main touts/spivs with dozens of ticketless fans trying to buy tickets off us! The Police gave us a good talking to! Game on. Morley was having a shocker and just as I shouted dogs abuse at Morley he scored. Cue mental celebrations. Great day. Oh the things we do as Blues!

Re: The Long Haired fan at Bradford 1-1....

He's from Hattersley and called Ivor. He used to go to the match with my uncle and his mates from the Centurian pub.
A few years older than me and became a bit of a local legend after that. I don't think he paid for his beer for a couple of weeks.
He still looks exactly the same (albeit with a few more lines on his face) as he did that day and still goes to the match.

I've not seen him for a few years now but they're all around 50 now so it's more than likely to be his grandson TBH.

He was recognized by blues for years afterwards and he'd often be gabbing with random fans at games. Good bloke as well.

I remember City getting beaten by Airdrie at some time in the Texaco Cup, possibly in the mid 70's

Yea, a great day indeed and one of a long line of Typical City displays, but with a positive result in the end. I lived near Halifax in those days and couldn't get a ticket for the match but a work colleague of mine let me have his season ticket so I was sat right in the middle of the Bradford fans. Didn't stop me from going berserk when Morley scored. Ended up with my mates in the Round Ings pub near Outlane, hoarse & very happy !
