Why would there be an embargo on a transfer story and what would be the punishment for breaking the embargo?

Is this something the courts would really get involved in?

A media embargo is just a line they type at the bottom of a press release. Typically release goes out in the morning with embargo until midnight - gives journos time to write the story for the next day. Its old school but still common practice, social media makes it slightly redundant. It has no legal weight, just the way PR people and Journos work together.

My guess is Dippers have rejected a barca bid. (only for it to go ugly and they will sell by the end of the weekend).

It's surely The Sun story that others have mentioned, hence the "embargo" until they publish the story (TalkSport are also owned by Murdoch, which would explain how they know about it). Guessing it's Danny Rose.
