We were all set to go after the top three when I posted this but we didn’t get any higher than 2093 due to poor performances in Europe by other PL clubs and then the Wolves defeat hit. We are currently at 2074 so 19 points behind ourselves, if you see what I mean. Not impossible for us to get back up there this season though. Beating Arsenal 5-0 away would help tremendously!Best (most dominant) teams of all time. Our rating is now so high that it’s difficult to earn more than 2 elo points for a win, a draw would drop us by about 8 points and a defeat would be about a 15 point drop. Only PL and European matches count. We can also win/lose points from how other PL clubs fair in Europe (about 27% of their match total elo points) Can we catch any of the top three before our run ends? Beating Forest, Wolves and Leipzig would probably get us 3rd.
Rank Team Peak Date Elo Coach 1 Barcelona '122012-04-15 2110 Pep Guardiola 2 Bayern '142014-03-26 2106 Pep Guardiola 3 Real Madrid '142014-05-01 2099 Carlo Ancelotti 4 Man City '232023-09-20 2093 Pep Guardiola
p.s. Pep looks to be the difference. He can’t leave until we are No 1….it’s only fair or he has short changed us ;-)
p.p.s We would be third now had we avoided defeat to Brentford and second had we beaten them.
This one didn't last too long as West Ham have extended to 17 now.Posted in the CL reaction thread on BBC Sport website:
Manchester City have now equalled the longest European unbeaten run by an English club - level on 16 games with four other teams.
Those sides are Leeds (1967-68), Tottenham (1967-72), Chelsea (2018-19) and West Ham, whose run started last year and is still going too.
Didn't hear anything on the BBC of us equalling this on Wednesday or Pep going over the total wins of baconface however, little Micky was bouncing around like a 4 year old on Xmas day trampoline present this morning about West Ham going to 17.This one didn't last too long as West Ham have extended to 17 now.
How many are in the European Conference League ? how many in the Europa league? How many in the Champions league v City all in the Champions league - it’s like comparing apples and orangesDidn't hear anything on the BBC of us equalling this on Wednesday or Pep going over the total wins of baconface however, little Micky was bouncing around like a 4 year old on Xmas day trampoline present this morning about West Ham going to 17.
Why does a team's rating get affected by other teams' performances in Europe? Yes. It’s because a part of determining how strong a team is is knowing how strong the league is. Celtic win every week but are they the best team in the World or are they just ok in a weak league? When PL teams play in Europe it affects how strong or weak the league is in relation to others. So clubs can earn elo points for themselves but are also reliant, to a lesser extent, on other PL teams earning points too.Why does a team's rating get affected by other teams' performances in Europe?
