'Breakthrough in nuclear fusion'

There is a set amount of energy in the universe, limitless energy has to displace energy from somewhere else.. does it not? everything in the universe is breaking down unless it's maintained, like a cup of tea will go cold as the energy disperses.

Someone with a bigger brain could explain this better than me.
I think you have explained that very well even for a idiot like me, could I just ask does it make any difference if you add the milk before or after you pour the tea?

Took more energy to power the lasers than the power it made so how can that be a fusion breakthrough?

The exact same experiment yielded a signifcantly smaller energy output (17kj) and that used 440mw of power to power the lasers.

This time 300mw of energy was used to power the lasers and the 2000kj of energy directed at the fuel produced 3150kj of power. It shows we're heading in the right direction.

Yeah but it be 50 years before the big jump
