Brentford (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

First half defending was shocking and every time hey came forward we looked like we were melting and that has to improve if we are to win the title . The big man up front is struggling and he has missed chances all season so hoping he gets going now in the business end . As soon as foden scored we looked totally different and our bench is looking good aswell . A good night in the end. But a lot bigger challenges coming .
Haaland's contribution was key.

First goal : Brentford defender thinks Haaland is behind him and clears the ball straight to Foden.
Second goal : Haaland has two Brentford defenders tight onto him leaving Foden acres of space to run into.
Third goal = Haaland assist.

Great to have the big man back, scares the life out of opponents.

Phil Foden, take a bow son. What a revelation he's been in that attacking midfield role and he has to stay there for me. We had to get that third goal last night because at 2-1 we looked dodgy for 10 minutes and gave them some chances, 3-1 killed it. Kev looks 90% back on it, Erling probably 50%. We're purring nicely, scousers beware

no but we are not like every club they have ever beaten? They done the double over the best team in the world and Treble winners last season mate! of course they are going to celebrate it!

We used to celebrate 23rd September 1989 in just the same way! its a compliment, not an insult!
There seemed to be something relating to local rivalry whenever we celebrated 23rd September 1989.

Indeed, been arguably our most consistent player this season.

I bet the poster who dubbed him Phil Frauden feels a bit of a **** now, or should!

Gvardiol seems to be consistently targeted by opposition teams, with the ball hoofed over his wing, and the winger often outpaces him to dangerous areas, leading to assists or goals.

Yep he kept them from a mauling first half... After we went ahead we allowed them to put pressure on us which made for a shaky 10/15 mins before the third. Tricky place to go so delighted with result.
Tricky? They've had four home wins this season against Burnley, Luton, Forest and West Ham, and they've now lost five at home. It was tricky because we made it tricky.
They are 15th in the table FFS (and would drop a place if Everton get their points back) and some are treating it like a trip to the Nou Camp. They may have been decent last season, but not this time.
We were comfortable winners in the end, but a bit more composure at both ends during the first half would have meant we could control the pace of the game for the entire second half.
