Brentford (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Well I’ve never seen that at any away ground.
Spurs mentioned it but it was done better at Brentford than the regular opener they had.
Did you see it tonight? i was wondering if it was part of the TV game coverage.
They didn't show it on Sky to be fair mate, your right it is a bit small time. but how mint is it that it means so much to beat little old Cithe! Either way, hope you had a top night and safe journey home pal!

All I saw was Toney out-strengthing Aké, plain & simple. I honestly can't see anything in that goal to complain about tbh...
Like you, I didn't see anything particularly wrong with their goal. So many fouls are given for nothing, but I think we would have been lucky to get that one disallowed imo. There have been 3 potential fouls leading to goals in City games recently that immediately come to mind, our ones at home to Liverpool and away at Spurs and Brentford's tonight, all 3 should have stood....as we all know 1 of them didn't ofcouse!

We’ve reached a point with this team now that if they go a goal down I’m barely arsed. I’m not saying this is the best team of the Pep era but it’s the one you can rely on the most in that situation.
I feel the same, especially now De Bruyne is back. Twice now we've won from conceding first and Kev's presence gives us that extra 'never say die' mentality.

No worries. Actually home already because I’m unfortunately living down south so me and the lad try and get in ad many ‘local’ away days as possible. Thanks to the lovely forum members on the ticket thread we’ve been to spurs and Brentford recently and my boy is so made up when he goes it’s a real treat to see him get stuck in.

i thought we played well tonight nothing seems to have bothered us, Ederson gave us some scary moments but overall we dealt with want they had.

Looked like it was going to be another one of those nights for 45 mins!

Never a fun place to go when the keeper is “en fuego” and they do the old “1 shot, 1 goal” bullshit!

The goal right before half time was a crucial turn in the game and probably changed the half time team talks for both teams!

Thought it was a great team performance and that both full backs were unlucky not to score, which tells you how much domination we enjoyed!

Great to get 90 mins in Kev’s weary legs and 85 mins of work out of Erling. Lovely build up play by him a few times setting up his teammates. Great to see.

Rodri was, as usual, imperious, and he helped us control the game for long stretches, although they had two spells where they were putting us under pressure at the back.

While Dias is playing a little better than he was, and made one great block, I have to think that Stones must watch him play and wonder why he’s the one sitting on the bench! At times I feel like Dias runs around like a kid with ADHD, then he does something half way decent, whereas Stones makes me feel far more secure, esp when bringing the ball out from the back. Dias seems far more harried and excitable.

Thought Bernie had a very quiet game and possibly one of his worst games for a while. He did alright, but normally he’s helping run the show. Didn’t feel that way tonight. Bit anonymous out on the wing.

All in all, a very good day at the office…eventually! 3-1 flatters them, as that (and more!) could have been the score at HT! But, given we slowed the game down at 3-1 and conserved energy for 20 of the last 30 mins, Pep and the staff must be very happy with that!
