Fucking hell there are some whining moaners in that Matchday thread. Jesus Christ, you'd think they'd battered us. They didn't have a shot on target in that entire second half. We completely stifled them without getting out of 1st gear three days after a crazy 6-3 game. We're 8 points clear. Just learn to enjoy it a bit. What was the point in going through the 80s, 90s and 00s if we're going to treat a 1-0 away win (to put a massive gap between us and 2nd place) like it's a 2-0 defeat? Even if Brentford had come back at us (they were never going to) we'd still be two games ahead of our nearest challengers.

Shambolic to watch. Slow motion for 90 minutes. Too many bad performances to mention. Very fortunate they never nicked a goal. The positives are that we wont play so badly again for a long time. MOTM Foden.

They were a shite team to play against, loads of fouls by them, loads of dives as well and almost all rewarded by the ref. I'll take the 3 points and hopefully completely destroy them at the Etihad with its nice short grass!

Massive win that. Brentford after the 15th minute offered nothing, we were able to cruise to a crucial three points with the other dropping points all over the place so far this festive period.

Thought Ake did well today, was the perfect game for him to play, Foden MOTM for me, and Kev looks like himself again.

Onto Arsenal that will be a cracking game.

This period is about getting the points. We were largely shit but it doesn't matter 3 points in the bag and a crucial 3 at that. had to capitalise on the others dropping points and did so. That dishearten the chasing pack so much. Beat arsenal and we get a double figures lead over 1 if not both challengers. Magic.

Cannot understand why Pep didn't make any subs though especially when there were many that could easily have been subbed off. Really bizarre of him.

I think we should all know by now Pep does this to keep players fresh for the next game, especially when there’s a few games within the space of a week.

Gaining maximum points when playing well below par is the sign of champions. And even though we weren't great, we still managed to hit the post and had two goals chalked off for being a midge's dick offside.

Yep. The old cliche about champions winning when they play badly is a cliche for a reason. This always had the potential to be a banana skin over Christmas and we've just about side stepped it when teams around us haven't sidestepped theirs.

Pep's either got to start using his subs or stop complaining that we don't get five subs. I genuinely don't mind which but one or the other please. To complain that we don't get five, then often not even use three or even sometimes one feels very... Klopp-ish.

Don't let Brentfords position fool you, they are much better than it shows and is similar to Brighton last season. They gave Liverpool alot of trouble too.
