Brentford (A) - Post-Match Thread

Found their supporters a truly strange bunch. Once shared s train with them from Burnley to Preston following a championship match. They were aggressive with everyone and I felt threatened despite being around 60 at the time. They also seemed to support Chelsea and sang a lot if anti rag songs. Sat with some Millwall fans a couple of weeks earlier on the same journey who while looking hard as nails were quite happy to talk footy with me they didn't want soft targets. Hope their one season wonders.
Got 2 mates who support championship clubs and they both can’t stand Brentford.

Proper professional performance. That's what champions do.

10 in a row!
My thoughts exactly!

This is a time of year where performance is less important than points…and we saved legs on the bench!

Only second game with no subs, so that had to be strategic!

Strategic or pep is a clueless wanker depending on who you read on here

Good performance , we can’t expect the stroll through every game, especially with the games coming thick and fast. Arsenal might suit us better if they come out to play

Toney is a snide little bastard; absolutely should have seen yellow and probably red for the quite deliberate stamp on Ferny's calf.

Agree with all -- Phil and Ake both excellent tonight, as was Laporte and Kev too. Controlled the ball, the tempo and their breaks extremely well, and that's especially heartening after the breakdown 2H v Leicester.
TBF Fern stamped on his foot moments before so probably a bit of revenge in that. Both got lucky they didn’t get a serious injury.
Saw a city scarf in the away end with San Francisco on it. It wasn’t you by any chance. ?

Great performance considering the number of games over Xmas. Result more important, the Ake was terrific, Phil the most potent attacker with flashes from Kev and Dinho. Eddie looked alert too. If we get points against the arses we'll be sitting very pretty.

Just watched the late national and NW news on bbc1. Rita Chakrabarti smiled both at the top of bulletin and when the sports items were introduced. Good un. Even Andy Swiss' match report seemed fair . Perhaps Roan's finally been claimed by satan!

On to the local stuff, Irish big haired, full chested woman couldn't read our result of the autocue quick enough. And no mention of how much of a gap we'd opened up. Meow!

Long as we guard against complacency, get behind all the lads and don't go all entitled, hopefully we'll do alright come May....CTID

A very hard fought win. Excellent considering both Liverpool and Chelsea dropped points. 8 points clear!
Correct - hard fought. Can't blame Brentford for digging in - it's when the Liverpools, Uniteds and Chelseas do it that it's totally laughable.

After we scored, we didn't have to do anything other than keep the ball. They never troubled us in the second half. Against a 10 man defence, just moving them around was enough. 3 points was the most important thing tonight. Onwards lads.

It seems as though the second half performance against Leicester was a blessing in disguise. Despite being 4-0 up we kept trying to force something to happen. That resulted in the wrong passes being made, easy turnovers of possession and us being countered.

Tonight it seemed like Pep had firmly told the lads not to force anything and recycle possession rather than play a risky pass. It worked to perfection.
