Brentford (A) | Post Match Thread

Not the greatest performance but hardly surprising under the circumstances. Good rest for the first team, not risking any injuries. Doubt Guardiola or anyone else at the club cares too much about the result really. That wasn't remotely important today.

Likely 11 for the next 2 games fully rested and hopefully raring to go and our fringe players have some mins in their legs if needed. That is all that matters. We have much bigger fish to fry.

Positive from the 3 dead rubbers this week:
No new injuries.
A lot of key players getting rested before the finals.

Negative:
Pretty much everything else, we played poor (by our standards) 3 straight games before 2 important finals, have probably lost a bit of momentum and rhythm at the most important time of the season.

Hopefully the positive outweigh the negative and the team comes out full of energy and back to their best when it matters the upcoming 2 weeks. But I would be lying if I said my confidence level before these finals have gone up after seeing our performances drop several levels in 3 straight games.
I don’t see how u can have momentum if ur playing a team that won’t play the finals. Maybe lost a bit of match sharpness but the first team will still feel they have momentum off the back of a premier league title win and knowing what is at stake

I get resting players and all that. But fuck me that was gash.

Gomez is the worst left back I've seen in a city shirt. And that includes watching Charvet.

Palmer is soooo laxy dazy. Absolutely no end product at all.

And Phillips looks like he's won a contest to play for City.

Our depth really needs addressing in the summer!
Gomez would have walked into almost all of our sides in the 90s and 00s , fucking hell having him as worse ever when we have fielded the likes of Frontseck and Hiley, Christ I think even Rae Ingram got a game at left back and went on to have a illustrious career at port Vale and macclesfield. Talk about a over reaction

Didn't think that Phillips played that poorly tbh, played safe though.

Gomez will probably not make it here.
Mahrez's was a shockingly poor performance.

Phillips offered nothing, when we did arrive anywhere near the final third, he's passing to nobody, mate.

Gomez wouldn't make it at Southampton, he's not good enough.

As you say, Mahrez is his usual crap self.
