Brentford (A) | Post Match Thread

Am I disappointed with the result? Of course I am, I’m a City fan. I never want my team to be beaten. How am I feeling? Is it the same as I usually feel after a defeat? A bit low, thinking about why did we get beat, I call my brother, talk it over with him. No, I haven’t even thought about the defeat, why? Because WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS and Pep is thinking about the next two games, the two most important games after we sealed the Premier League, so come on lads and lasses, come Saturday afternoon we know our best eleven are going to be focused and keyed up ready to go on that first whistle. CTID

As I said at the end of the match thread.
Pep was in a no win situation.
I get the momentum argument but if he’d gone full strength and someone had got injured he have got crucified on here.
He had Haaland, Gundo, Bernardo, Stones, and Rodri sat there and yet bought on Charles. What's that tell everyone about Pep's mindset regarding this match? He 1000% did the right thing. Anyone believing City won't come out roaring next Saturday is fucking nuts. Whether its Bernardo or Foden on the right or Bernardo or Gundo in the central midfield or Akanji or Walker in the back with Dias, Stones and Ake, City will be monsters!

Stop fucking moaning you precious cunts in here that are! We've won the league for the THIRD season in a row with THREE games to spare, after chasing down a very good Arsenal side with an eight point lead. As well as that we've reached the fa cup final and the champions league final, thrashing Bayern Munich and Real Madrid along the way. In thar process we've played the best football I've witnessed in fifty five years of watching this club. In TWENTY FIVE games we've lost ONCE in a dead rubber game while playing the reserves.

Will resting key players lose us momentum? Nobody knows. Such is our system and the players knowledge of playing it I doubt it. The ones rested will be fit and raring to go. If we lose one or both finals I'm sure all the told you so whiners will be back saying it was because of this. It won't be. Two tough decent sides want to win these finals as much as we do. Bad luck, a worldie goal, the dreaded var and/or the other teams playing better could happen and we could lose. I hope we don't and if we put a performance in like against Liverpool, Arsenal and Madrid we won't barring something freak happening. Count your blessings, stop fucking whining, get behind the lads and stop thinking you know more than the best manager in the world, you don't.
absolutely spot on mate, brilliant words & 100% truth, any doubters and naysayers i suggest they read this fully.

You have been reading the Daily Fail if you think any team has straight replacements in every position as good as those they replace. In normal circumstances one or two come in and the overall impact on performance is only slightly affected. You cannot judge individuals when over half the team are sqad players.

We’ve had two players for almost every position since Pep arrived, some not always great but not as bad as the fringe we have now

Let me give you an example -would you sooner have Delph or Gomez ?

Absolutely spot on chapo and brilliantly well said.
Too many daft fuckers on here who can`t see the wider picture.

Listen......if you don't think our starting XI won't be anything other than 100% focused and wound up ready to go in both the FA Cup and CL finals then you are seriously deluded. These guys (and Pep) know what is required. Just let them get on with it FFS. Bigger the game, bigger the performance this season.
Exactly, if the giddy rags think they’re going to be facing anything less next week, then more fool them, I’d pay the entrance fee to watch the training sessions for the next couple of weeks, they’re going to be epic.

Our recruitment needs to improve. The squad depth isn’t good enough thankfully the medical staff have worked wonders this year. Phillips, gomez, palmer need replacing
Nowt to do with squad depth.

No professional player is giving 2 fucks about a meaningless game they are only playing in as the big boys are being protected.

How can you not see that?

I wasn’t basing my opinion on just this game tbh. I never thought Phillips was up to our standard I even posted as such before we signed him. Gomez was clearly a panic buy once cucurella fell through and is champ standard at best and palmer has constantly shown to have ability but also looks as though he is playing within himself. Personally I would like to see mcatee take his minutes next season and I firmly believe tommy Doyle is a better player than phillips (Albeit probably also below the standard we require)

I’m making a judgement of what I’ve seen in the flesh particularly over last few weeks, with a couple of fringe players,to be quite frank are crap, and not what this squad has had in past few years,so if this is the back up,which I doubt it is,then we are in a bit of trouble, but either way they should be binned as deemed not good enough

I’ve read a post on one in particular with a few saying they don’t know football if they think he’s crap, which is again laughable, strength in depth has always been a trait we’ve had in recent years,we haven’t now……..at the minute

So match thread reaction my fucking arse
I know it's hard being a blue at the moment but look on the bright side. At least the league is over and we don't have to suffer having to watch any more players who aren't world class.
Pep is on record as saying he doesn't like to play with a big squad. So the fringe players often get very little game time. So if its Gomez you are saying is shit then yes for sure he's not set the world on fire but he's come in and done a job. Phillips has been a disappointment and the issue of Rodri being over played does need addressing.
But for fucks sake this is the greatest time. So don't worry, let's smash the red fuckers and Inter and then have a beer worrying about our left back.

Cheers. We all have a moan from time to time, myself included, but bloody hell we have absolutely nothing to moan about at the moment. Even if we lose both finals, God forbid, we've had a great season and been involved until the final kick.

I go to bed every night worrying about our left back mate, and I’m sure Pep does the same

Let’s put the result into perspective.

Brentford‘s 1st team beat most of our 2nd team and some youth players by an 85th minute winning goal.
Beat us home and away this season.Cannot have been many teams in the last few seasons who have done that.
