But of course it would be strange as per Pep's philosophy(and he is right) players should maintain a game rhythm and playing a 2nd team this is contradictory.

You've read it wrong. Pep said on Friday all players are fit but some players have a more than a 50/50 chance of getting injuries.

They are being rested that's all.
