I'd be shocked if Akè doesn't start this game tonight. Laporte will be saved for Arsenal away on Saturday. It's a shame Stones is unavailable.

If Rodri is out for longer, I worry about playing Dinho here and against Arsenal.

Perhaps it’s worth trying Zinchenko as a DM and letting Ake play as a defensive left back, still transition to our usual 325 attack.

Sorry mate I disagree. You cannot play Zinchenko in an alien position of DCM, much better to rest Ferno tonight and have Dias(or even Ake) shielding Stones and Laporte if Rodri is unavailable, but we'll know the team news at 19:15pm.

I’m thinking Mahrez will
play as he is off to Acon after this game. Anyone know if he leaves before the 1st on Jan in which case he may be available for the Arsenal game

We will miss him as an option. He contributes a lot including goals.

I was in the Brentford end. Told all around me who i supported . They were fine. Can't say I enjoyed that day but was treated fine by the Brentford fans who were too busy celebrating.

City were last at Brentford for an F.A. Cup tie (lost) in the late '80s. Wasn't there but seem to recall reports of heavy-handed policing in the ground with many arrests. Anyone confirm this?

I remember that game, Gary Blissett (who was a City fan iirc) tore us apart but the last time we were at Brentford was actually in 1997. Travelled down on a Wednesday only for it to be called off due to snow just as we arrived at the ground but was back for the re-arranged game which we won 1-0.

Dias and Ake don’t have the positional awareness that midfielders needs, it’s actually riskier going with your suggestion.

Zinchenko has played there before and understands the role.

Probably. They won't wear the home shirt, even though there's no clash. And the away kit is a non runner, with the white clashing with the white stripes in Brentford's shirt.
