To be honest, we've had too many false dawns.
However with the financial backing now in place I think we are going to surprise a lot of people and I predict a top 5 finish.

Cant make either games because of family holidays,BUT,im going to be following Uwe and Brentford this season.
Good luck..

Went to the Brentford v Stoke friendly last night to see Uwe's boys in action for the first time this season. Typically, my first impressions before I even got into the staduim were 'Same old Brentford' as queues of people were left at the turnstiles 10 minutes after kick off after Brentford grossly underestimated the interest in this 'meaningless friendly' and ran out of tickets having to do an emergency reprint while the game was underway.

However, that was soon forgotten as inside, Brentford were a team a million miles apart from the team who limped off at Wembley last season losing the JPT with a embarassingly gutless performance.

The catchphrase for Bees fans is now "Pass 'em off the park". That's because in one of our pre-season friendlies, we were something like 5 goals up and then we went down to 10 men. Apparently Uwe shrugged off our one man deficit when asked "What do we do now" and shouted back to the team "Pass 'em off the park". And that's exactly what we did to Stoke City last night.

Stoke fielded a strong side. 8 of the 11 apparently played in the cup final. However, as sky sports news said, it was Stoke City who looked more like the Div 1 side. One Bees player who IMMEDIATELY impressed me was ex Man City player Shaleum Logan. He's going to make a big impact in this division. He's fast and intelligent. The defence had Stoke in their pocket the whole game pretty much. Jones didn't really get a sniff and after an hour, he looked like he just wanted to go home.

We played an excellent passing game - something that we probably wont be able to do week in and week out against Division 1 sides as they will clatter us. But on the flip side, we matched Stoke in the 2nd half as they tried to out-muscle us (as they do) and more than found their match with their Brentford opponents.

Won't bore on about who else to look out for in our side (other than Logan) but City fans coming down for the first game of the season, as long as Yeovil don't try and put 10 men behind the ball and kick us up and down the park, you should be in for a fun day. And judging on last night's atmosphere, the pubs will be buzzing in anticipation before the game so get there in plenty of time to get yourselves a few pre-match jimmies.

Again, yes it's only a pre-season friendly and we shouldn't get carried away but Uwe has transferred his City passion to this Brentford team. We normally stroll out for these pre-seasons not giving a hoot, playing half arsed football and afterwards saying "Its all about fitness. You shouldn't take too much from a pre-season friendly" when the game is drab and droll. However, he's obviously installed his German 'winners' attitude in them and has told them that every game is important and they have to give 100%. Last night was like an exciting league or cup match quite strangely and when Brentford scored, the place erupted. Very bizarre scenes for a meaningless friendly.

Were going down on the sat and cheer uwe on!

Does anyone know roughly how many blues watching this game ... there are two of us going down on the day and paying on the gate ... Uwe, Uwe, Uwe !!!

Some people asking how well we'll do this season. We were 33/1 for the title and its down to 18/1 now. If anyone is doing an accumulator, you should definitely put us in the loop.

Needless to say 'big' sides like Huddersfield, Wednesday, Charlton and Sheffield Utd are going to have to be taken out if we are to do the business. Our first away game of the season at Bramall Lane is going to be a huge tester. Personally, I don't think United are going to know what hit them. Kind of when we played Notts Forest early in the season after they were relegated to the 1st division in the Mad Dog Allen days and we went there and ripped them apart (beat them 2-0 or 2-1. cant really remember) with the fans singing "From champions league to the LDV". That was a fun day out.

With Logan in a fantastic a defence which includes Eger who we just signed from St Pauli (he was their captain in the Bundersleague). With McGinn in midfield (just signed him from Celtic. Got some caps) who is running at defenders like no ones business. With Douglas (signed from swindon. i think he's got some caps too. not sure) marshalling the midfield with youth team player 17 year old Jake Reeves (the new Jay Tabb) an exciting revelation (he ran and passed how way around the stoke defence and midfield incredibly). Miles Weston terrorising the wings at 0-125 mph in 4 seconds. Clayton Donaldson (signed from crewe. top scorer in div 2 last season with 29 goals) causing problems. Plus Charlie McDonald up front and Karleigh Osborne in defence (who kept Kenwynne Jones quiet last night) we're going to be alright. We just need one more striker. Jeffrey Schlupp back from Leicester (we had him on loan last season and is possibly the fastest player to ever play in a Brentford shirt) would finish the jigsaw off.

We finished 10th last season (I think) and we were woeful in front of goal and had no real guts to our play. We're miles better than we were last season already when we were still talking about possibly making the playoffs in early April.

So to answer your question - Top 3. Ambitious yes. But attainable.
