Brentford (H) | Post-Match Thread

i was looking at the stats for our game on the BBC and stumbled into reading some of the bitter drivel that was supposed to pass for a match report from that utter wanker McNumpty. Also a few snide digs in the live feed from the cunts **** Stone. Of course they have to make hay whilst the sun shines and jump on any defeat but the pure nastiness and spite surprised me even by their ultra low standards. They got what they prayed for a City home defeat with six weeks to gloat, sad bastards. We‘ll see these bastards in May.

Right home now after 5 hour journey fucking nightmare

Anyways that was fucking embarrassing & we can slag players all night no matter who blames who the fucking lot of them apart from Eddy who kept it down to 2 nevermind 4 or 5

I said to the guy next to me 5 mins before he scored Phil was the worst player on the pitch 1st half & I wouldnt be told any different

Akanji worst game but Kev & Gundo weren't much better infact they were worse over the 90 minutes

Pep also has a huge part to play in that today 86 fucking minutes Alvarez change what the fuck was that about????

Look we havnt imo played outstanding football all season tell me when 2-3 games stick in anyones mind where we've been wow football more rather 45 or 25 minute spells or last minute wins

We played well at West Ham, 1st 50 against UTD, 2nd half v Palace maybe good against a shit Forest & Bournemouth but all told no more than good

Even Champs League group games were average

This result World Cup or not was coming we have gone through the motions in the last 4-5 weeks not good enough simple

We need Walker back at RB Stones just doesnt work let's hope hecomes back fit

We can't knock Haaland's goal scoring record but he has areas he can improve on days like today. He needs to improve his physicality and heading ability. When he's well shackled he has to start disrupting defences and opening space up for others.
Tbf most of his goal
The ref today was diabolical - as was the ref for the Fulham game. The VAR mob have the Sky and BT broadcasts on in the room. It's wrong - Sky/BT can influence VAR.

Brentford had early chances and were dangerous - Eddie earned his money. We were nowhere near our best and messed up our chances and for some reason kept playing the ball into the space behind Erling and not for him to run onto. But we were the better team, just not at capacity today. Crackpot scheduling of the World Cup had an effect. Just hope our players don't come home knackered.
With 16 out there and a lot starters for big teams..unless we get aportugal or england win so they come back buzzing could be a tough teturn. We have only scored about 12 goals in last tem gamed i think
I feel as if a lot of our players are excellent on the counter, including KDB, Foden, Grealish, and Haaland. But the way we play is not good for getting counterattacks. It’s very deliberate, all the time. I agree with what you say.
Agreed. With Haalands pace and KDB usual passing we should play deeper then quick fire ..ballinto Haaland's path. We have scored only a dozen including cups in last 10 games..oppos sit deep get touch tight to Haaland = we dont score. No overlaps anymore. I was a killjoy saying not sure CF is a great fit for us...no one plays with one ..games about rapid runs from deep
CF's are a dream for modern CH when told tomark. They didn't first five games = Haaland hatfull...niw..well

He doesn't do substitutions becuse he has a stubborn attitude to those he picked to play and are not producing. It is as If he is saying, " I picked you today . Its a huge honour to play for Man City . If things are not going right in the game and you are not doing what I've asked then you must see to it yourselves. Otherwise you'll be embarrassed by the end and that'll humble you"
It will and maybe they'll wake up . But his tactics can be his weakness at times: No strongest/ settled 11 as he chops and changes this team far too often; Not willing to change when it might not necessarily cost anything ( we still lost) ; Making the wrong change which opponent exploits;

A change can disrupt the other team's rhythm. It makes them think. That is a basic in coaching. It often forces the opposite team's manager to make a change. Pep didn't do that .
Also that blasé attitude in the post match press conference after today's game , needs to go. Maybe it's a nervous reaction but it sends out wrong message. I'd rather a dejected Pep after a game like this than an apathetic , uncaring one.

Hugely dog shit result, we now have to suffer the next 6 weeks of World Cup garbage until proper football starts again

You all know I’m a glass half full person normally but I’m a bit less than that tonight. Maybe just 3/8ths. Or maybe it’s because the mind was willing but the body was weak as I’m in absolute agony and wondering whether it’s time to say goodbye to live matches and just watch what I can online.

Ah well. We’ll see. :-( :-)

Cancelo has been absolutely abysmal almost all season, and was patchy at best last season. His entire reputation is built on ‘moments’ or outrageous pieces of skill that paper over poor performances. Selling Zinchenko and losing the option to build up with a trusted left footed full back is so idiotic that I don’t even have a word for it. It’s insane that a club as well run as ours spent years without a natural left back, only to sell the player we have been very successfully persevering with, once he basically becomes a fully fledged top quality left back (who can invert too). Can understand the Jesus decision because of Haaland but the Zinchenko one is baffling and looks costly to me.
