We had him as a Guest Speaker at one of our Mid Cheshire Branch Meetings and a very funny guy. After the meeting ended he spent the next hour or so talking football to non City fans in the pub lounge.
Great bloke and a nice read in his book.

One of my favourite City managers; always came across as a really genuine & nice guy, genuinely trying to do his best for the fans. Played attractive attacking football, too.

Yes, as a player he helped to relegate City in 1983, but that's long forgiven !

I was dubious when he was appointed but ended up gutted when he was sacked. City would certainly not have suffered two relegations in three seasons with him in charge.

His teams played a decent brand of football. This is more than can be said of his successor.
