Brian Horton

Great bit of planning that, build a stadium at the end of a narrow cul-de-sac.

Horton's football was fun to watch at times, as well as those already mentioned there was a cracking 4-3 League Cup win at QPR and of course he signed the renowned German car thief and skilful playmaker Maurizio Gaudino who played a big part in keeping us up in Horton's 2nd season.

Don’t forget Steffan Karl's cracker at Southampton!

I met with Brian at a restaurant and he was very approachable him and his lovely wife. Brian Clarke City match commentator even got in on the act.. Paul Walsh the little genius passes to the big Irishman.. wonderful times

That name’s a blast from the past!

He became embroiled in a match-fixing scandal in Germany in the middle of the last decade .

This is the last paragraph from his Wikipedia entry:

In 2003, 33-year-old Karl returned to Germany, playing with former East German sides. Two years later, whilst at Chemnitzer FC – he also represented VfB Fortuna Chemnitz until his final retirement in 2008 – he became the first player to be arrested in connection with Germany's match-fixing scandal, being suspected of helping manipulate the results of a May 2004 match between Chemnitz and SC Paderborn 07.[3]He was given a nine-month suspended prison sentence for his role in the affair, and banned for eight months by the German Football Association.[4]

Brian Horton was a very good manager, I can remember when he was appointed, hardly anyone in Manchester had heard of him.

A real football man and nice guy.

Lot of time for this man! Used to love his post match interviews following a good hammering ' you know we played well didn't we?' 'You know Quinny, Flitty, Beagsie, Curly, Brighty and Walshy.. they played well didn't they?' 'OK, we lost 5-0, but we were unlucky wasn't we ?' The most positive manager of all time :-D You just knew he adored being manager of our great club and he still uses the words us and we when speaking about City.

Nothing to dislike about Brian. Played lovely football and always seemed a really nice guy. Deserves to be remembered fondly. Our ambitions were a bit different back then, the 40 point mark and a respectable showing in the derbies was about the height of it. Looking back its hard to believe we are were we are now.
