a position we have no strength in depth in......

both sylvinho and garrido are awful

opposition managers will target this area if either of them play there and we will get murdered both on the flanks and on crosses to the back post (especially)

id rather have barry play there than either of the other 2 and i think lescott should be left at centre back as he is really starting to play well there.....

Absolutely Agree, tho` cannot believe the thoughts of some fans.

Lescott is starting to play consistently well and we are looking stronger in the centre of the defence, the last Mancini should do is to change other defensive positions to solve the left back problem.

Personally would go with Barry which may mean we set up a little more attacking in midfield which should be a positive move.

Right - Lescott can play left back, as can Barry. Both quite well. This frees up a space in midfield if Barry goes there, so ireland can try and be half decent again?

This is an opportunity, not a problem.

bit of a blow, hes been on form aswell.

gareth barry to LB imo, lescott and vinny are just starting to become a top CB partnership

Bridge is, let's face it, well below the standard we need at left back. Garrido is too, but he's more than capable of filling in there and is better than Bridge going forward, not to mention his free kick taking ability.

No way would I move Lescott out there and put Toure back in the defence. He is fucking awful! With Kompany and Lescott there we finally have some stability.

Zab - Kompany - Lescott - Garrido

Zab at LB then
OR
Lescott with Toure in the middle with Kompany

This, Sylvinho doesn't have the pace and Garrido doesn't have the quality... Valencia and Young, Agbonlahor and Lennon would all have a field day otherwise.

Maybe Boyatta will get the nod again? Mancio seemed keen on the lad, or perhaps Ned will play at CB with Kompany and Lescott will move to LB.

Or Barry could play LB... Perhaps leaving room for Superman in midfield.

Barry, Garrido, Sylvinho, Zabaleta and Lescott.

Don't think Villa, Spurs or Liverpool have that many back up options.

Quite agree with Barry as LB with Micah as RB, Kompany, Lescott completing the defence, deJong remains as holding. This allows Ireland, Johnson & Bellers, Tevez & Ade upfront.
Squad: SWP, Zab, Toure, Vieira, Petrov, Garido, Onouha, RSC, Sylvinho etc.

-- Wed Mar 17, 2010 4:19 am --

Frankly speaking, Lescott will do the job on Lennon. For Spurs, Lescott is a must as LB to straightjacket Lennon. IMO

Hopefully he may be back before the 1st May when we face Ashley Young and James Milner, followed a few days later by Aaron Lennon. Our two biggest games of the season. By the way, does anyone know how we normally perform in the month of May? My recollection is that we are usually crap but maybe that 8-1 loss at M'boro disturbs the equilibrium.

You know what, it might be for the best, with all that happened I don't think he's focussed enough to play for a team that has a massive challenge in it's battle for 4th, he looked very troubled when he came off on Sun.
I fear for the guy's mental state to be honest, poor sod!
He's been troubled with an abdominal injury for most of the season as most City supporters would know.

Under no circumstances should Mancini move Lescott away from CB. This simply isn't an option. It will have to be Zab or Barry.

I know it's easy to speak in hindsight and they were probably just trying to patch him up through the rest of the season, but perhaps it would have been an idea to put him in for this op straight after the Chelsea game if it's only a 4-week lay off. He'd have only missed two weeks then.

What have people got against Garrido? Thought he was more than adequate cover when Bridge was out injured recently, dont remember him costing us any goals and plus scored a great free kick against Wolves

Cant believe anyone could suggest moving JL to left back. Our back 2 were shambolic until JL and VK came together, Boyata the exception. Our skipper has been a nightmare just not the player he was and caused chaos with every ball played into the box

This is a big big loss.

There's no way he should disrupt our centre half pairing so it's going to have to be Garrido.

This might cost us a place in the top four.

I'm pretty sure Lennon's injured.

Young plays on the left.

Milner now plays in midfield.

Downing plays on the left. Occasionally the right but that means coming inside, so Zab.

Valencia? Not that big of a threat. Pretty sure Garrido can handle him, or Barry.
