Yeh there was a lot of talk about him staying until the group stages of Europa were over for Porto. He was very much a buy where we needed somebody or anybody to fill the role if we wanted CL football next season. He is the complete opposite of what we needed.

For me, we had too many players on the pitch with very average link up play. It was evident when even a half-fit Bernardo came on that was what we were missing. Suddenly, there was a bit of interplay on the edge of Brighton's area. Doku, Marmoush, Haaland and Savinho all haven't shown they have the first touch and weight of pass to reliably do these little interplays in the same way that Grealish, Bernardo, Foden, Gundo and KDB used to do at their peak. It makes us completely one-dimensional. We know what Doku and Savinho are going to do before they get anywhere near the ball. Gvardiol was one of the most dangerous attacking full backs in the league a while back. Now he's rarely alongside Doku giving him an option (presumably because our defence has been so shit, to be fair). We had too many players who should be running onto stuff and not enough players who deliver the passes.
 
In a sea of knicker twisting I'm completely chilled with whatever happens this season.

We are where we are because we are having the perfect storm of ageing players, new players, loss of form, injuries, teams being younger and fitter and technically better than us.

Some fans need to keep that in mind before their entitled way of thinking let's loose on here.

We are in transition.
The table doesn't lie.
The team is disjointed because of the reasons above.


Like I've said it ain't no biggie for me, this team has brought 4 in a row, the treble and untold happy memories, to have a go at them because they're having an off season after the last few years doesn't even enter my head.

Annoyed we didn't win, yes.
Annoyed at players and the team, absolutely not.

Yep. And it doesn’t solve the problem. The keeper knows he’s never going to be sent off for wasting time twice in stoppage time so they don’t speed up anyway

At least if they’re booked early doors the keepers know if they give away a foul they’re off. So early
Bookings for time wasting might work. Late ones don’t
