Brighton and Hove Albion PL (H) | Post Match Thread

Ahead twice; couldn't hold on either time for longer than 10 minutes. I'm too lazy to check, but I hate to think how many points we've thrown away from winning positions in the league this season. At a guess? 10-15? Even if we'd managed to get half of those lost points, the scrap for a CL spot would be so much easier.

And yes; I'm sure the other contenders have also thrown away leads. Not sure it'd be as many as us, mind. We SEEM to have lost a lot of leads so far.

When your luck is out it's out. The story of our season.
Signs of improvement.
Brighton are a good strong team very physical and the ref allowed alot of holding.
Brighton fans celebrating like there just won the league soon be an interesting drive home when stopping at the service stations lol
We rode our luck. Lucky to walk away with a draw today!!

Its all on Pep.
Lewis needs selling to the Conference division.
We've been found out.
Where's Mancini nowadays?
This team is finished.
We wont win anything with Pep :!

Take your pick guys, copy andf paste its ready for you.

Personally I thought we were poor, but its a rebuild season for us so it's bound to be. No other team in history has gone through and achieved what City have over the last few years so its to be expected, you cant win everything, all the time, forever.

Doku, frustrating for me but it seem everyone else thought he was good enough. But for me, off the ball he just lets the opposition wander into the box.

Marmoush (My motm) was industrious and made things happen.

Lewis, jeeez he is a weak link and we need to replace him in that position.

The ref really is a wanker.
Unfair on Rico.

I don't kmow what Pep was thinking with his stupid formation with Gundogan in a lightweight midfield.

I'm still going to say; The Boys in Blue never give in, they fight to the end. Now, as I wasn't there and I cannot look at the Match Day thread (I'm not a masochist), I am not sure whether they fought to the end or not but I hope they kept trying. I turned on Final Score when I thought it would be over and they said that we almost got a goal in the final minutes and they were saying that City were still trying so....

Just for once I am a little disappointed/down about the result.... give me an hour I'll be all right again.

Thank you City, thank you lads, thank you fans. The fans did us proud as always.

I'm not saying anything about the media or the referee because they are always so bad.

Onwards and upwards. :-)

My hope going into this offseason was that if he had a big summer transfer window we could bounce back to being a contender by next season. Now I’m thinking we are two successful transfer windows a way.

One of the big problems is the inverted full back that Pep keeps persisting with….the players are confused….other teams now know that a decent diagonal ball is going to get their right winger in because the tactic means Gvardiol has to ‘tuck in’.

Even though we didn’t lose today….today is one of the most depressing days of the season….it hit home that Brighton are as good as City and this wasn’t a one off poor performance.

If we are not going get the ball into the box for one of the prolific strikers in the world…..then we might as well sell him.

Wingers playing on their wrong side doesn’t help the already big lack of creativity.

Closer to losing this game than winning it. Our defence is wank and our wingers are good at running people but have no end product.

We haven’t had a decent winger since Sane left.

If Chelsea win tomorrow we’ll be 4 points behind fourth.
I mean, we won the fucking treble well after Sane had left, but okay. Apparently you can win trebles without decent wingers JFC

Draw about right though Brighton's Baleba missed the biggest sitter of all time that should've won it. We look tired, old, lethargic & fallable. As we have pretty much all season - the end of this season, & a huge overhaul, can't come quick enough.

Doku lively & our best player, Marmoush had spells in the game but ran out of steam. As for the rest - hmm. Haaland frankly awful, Dias and Khusanov both looked very nervy all game and our right back position is best watched from behind the couch. A week off before the Forest game and we put in a limp effort; a week off before today and we were all over the place at times - our defending from set pieces, which so often gave up a free header, was something an under 10s team would've been ashamed at. A point the absolute ceiling of what we deserved.

We can't retain the ball anymore so we have to defend and deal without possession far more than any of these players are used to. In short Pep is trying to play the same system with players who are too old to enforce it. I'd be amazed if we finish in the top 5 - Bournemouth in 2 weeks may be a painful watch too given their youth and energy all over the park, the likes of which we just can't match at the moment.

There come a time with every manager when he can no longer deliver and that time has been reached with Pep. The rebuild has to be done with a new manager and new tactics. The incredible success he has enjoyed cannot be denied.
However his self-belief has now caught up with him. His signing of players and refusal to play them in their correct positions has been badly exposed this season. For someone of his supposed coaching abilities there has been no improvement in any of the players we have signed in the last 2 years and nobody has come through the youth system to establish himself. If Rico is the best we have what a shambles. Sorry to be so negative but truths have to be faced

I think its got to the point where Haaland doesn't need to show up for tactic briefings anymore.
We play around him these days.
It's criminal how bad this situation is!

That’s done on purpose mate.

Haaland is that poor ball into feet he loses possession about 80% of the time. Especially with back to goal.

Superb goalscorer but bobbins link up player.

Nico a panic buy, pretty obvious he was last pick otherwise we would have activated his RC January 1st. One thing we needed was legs and we buy arguably one of the slowest players about. Doku and Savinho can’t be starters next season if we want to get back to where we was.
When we bought him, I watched a couple of youtubes of him and he looked pretty good, but in neither of them was anybody actually trying to tackle him. Maybe he'll prove to be one of those players that's better against weaker teams (in which case, he'll be a let-down, because we've a few of those already).
The sheer energy of PL teams might be too much for him - that's looking like a possibility at the moment, anyway.

Khus and Marmoush looking better of the Jan window - can't really give an opinion of Reis yet, but gut feeling is positive there, too.
