Brighton and Hove Albion PL (H) | Post Match Thread

Doku and Saviniho are not the problem with this team though they are far from perfect. Wingers tend to blow hot and cold and thrive on being in a dominant team.

We are where we are because we no longer dominate teams, our build up is too slow and we are shipping far too many goals.

Some of our players have reached the end of the road. What baffles me though is what on earth has happened to Foden and Grealish who unlike the 2 new recruits should be in their prime.

How long till we stop riding on four in row and take the club forward ?
Considering we boy did the four in a row (for the first time any club ever has) last season, how long do you think we’ve been riding on that? And what does that even mean?

So many silly little mistakes throughout the season, this game being no different. Kills our momentum or gives the opposition the chance to attack. Needs to stop.

There come a time with every manager when he can no longer deliver and that time has been reached with Pep. The rebuild has to be done with a new manager and new tactics. The incredible success he has enjoyed cannot be denied.
However his self-belief has now caught up with him. His signing of players and refusal to play them in their correct positions has been badly exposed this season. For someone of his supposed coaching abilities there has been no improvement in any of the players we have signed in the last 2 years and nobody has come through the youth system to establish himself. If Rico is the best we have what a shambles. Sorry to be so negative but truths have to be faced
I often feel like that lately, immediately after a game, but - in the cold light of day, he's our USP.

Without Pep, we'd just be another team who used to be dominant, like Milan, Juventus, United etc... It's Pep that has always justifiably given us an air of superiority, in the way that (I hate to say it) Ferguson always did for next-door. Not to mention the sense of continuity envied by most other clubs. A dynasty, even.

While he's here there's still an attraction for top players - although this must have been diluted a massive amount this season - and in any case, who can step into his shoes and genuinely expect to hit the ground running?

It's totally understandable for people to feel completely let down by him this season - I certainly do, because of the apparent apathy and lack of interest in even trying anything different for more than the odd game (and when he has, and it's worked, inconceivably reverting to type for the next game??) - but if ever a manager deserved more-than-usual slack, considering what he's going through outside the game, it's Pep.

There, he's worn me down - it usually takes until the following morning for me to think rationally like this!

Pep's tactics have always been based on possession and pressing. Given that we now cannot do either there is a need for a major re-think

I remember at Barcelona he always spoke of his golden rule, when possession is lost the 3 players closest to the ball immediately swarm for 10 seconds to try and win it back, would love to know where that has gone.
