No athleticism in midfield is killing us. We're like a smaller boxer with no power against a big puncher. We might be up on points most weeks but it only takes one shot and we're left seeing stars.

My God Rodri is utterly phenomenal to have been covering this up for 2 years single handedly because we look fucking abysmal.

When the team is winning everyone is happy. This is the time when the real character and true fans stay behind the team and support. City thro thick and thin. Will come back stronger then ever.
Things should improve eventually, but you have to our question recent transfer markets, when players who aren't even as good as what we already had were brought in .... it has left us with with a lack of depth and real quality withing the squad, and we are now suffering because of it, as some of the ones that we already have are clearly at the wrong end of the age scale ...... the pressure is definitely on Pep now, even though he tries two 'make light' of some media interviews.

Just put myself through MOTD whilst lying in bed, never mind our game, but god help us when we play the scousers if we haven’t got a decent number of players fit and ready bearing in mind it’s only 3 weeks away!

Personally I don’t think Rodri would make a huge difference at the moment, he’s never been the fastest anyway. Of course we’d be better, who wouldn’t be, but imo we’d still be struggling.

While I agree we are seeing the end of an era due to age catching up with some of our stellar players, let's put some perspective on today. Here are the players that were unavailable to us. Ake, Dias, Akanji, Stones, Doku, Grealish. As a result we had to play a half fit Walker, a rookie kid at center half and another kid in Lewis that should be being nurtured like Foden was but can't due to our injury crisis. Kev isn't even half fit but he was thrown on to try and turn the tide. We are also missing the heartbeat of our side, Rodri. No team in world football is ripping up trees with all these issues. In spite of all this atm we sit five points ahead of Arsenal. Yes Liverpool are flying but they've ridden their luck so far in a few games I've seen them play. If they lose VVD and a couple of other key players let's see how it affects them.
Given the magnificent efforts from this squad over the last few years some burn out was bound to happen. My one criticism is our recruitment hasn't been from the top drawer the last couple of years.
Let's see where we are if we ever get a fully fit squad back. By then it may be too late for the title but we'll see
......................
Totally agree BUT, knowing that we do not have the right talents and we miss many players, why we couldn't cope and changed our playing style to suit the current situation?
Why the recruitment team failed to address these challenges in the last two years? It was obvious that our team is ageing, players like Rodri and KDB don't have replacement or cover, not only that but also lost young talents like Palmer!!!!
And Mcatee will be the next to go

We struggle at that shithole as it is with full strength teams, They'll be fired up for it as usual.

The funny part is yesterday they had a midfield three of Gravenberch, McAllister and Jones...The fucking state of it. Yet at this moment in time is a midfield we would struggle against.

Hopefully we've players back after the International break.

You're absolutely right ..... Rodri has been crying out for quality assistance for some time now, especially late last season, and Pep has failed to take heed of his warnings, and bring a young quality midfielder (or two) in ... someone who can not only assist Rodri whilst out on the pitch, but also take up the responsibility of holding the team together when he isn't there, and effect the game.

Mcatee is one of the things that’s been doing my head in the most with regards Pep being stubborn over the last few weeks. Gundo has done absolutely zero to justify his inclusion, a pale shadow of our former player, with no engine or legs whatsoever. Yet Pep won’t give James a go in the side, it’s not like he’s a kid coming through with no Prem experience, he’s played plenty at Sheff. Regardless of whether I think he’s not done much when he’s had a few mins with us this season, he deserves a chance at the moment yet can’t even get on the pitch. Baffling.
