Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

You will struggle not to concede without Rodri but it's virtually impossible without Dias, Stones and Rodri.
Losing Doku and Grealish haven't helped either.
Injuries have caught up with City.
still should have won though - to many chances surned.
Rico was targeted by the Brighton press all might and he strunfled - as happened against Sporting.
And to course to cap it all off nicely Pep did his refusal to substitute tiring players thing - his only fault really.

His output is sub standard how many goals or assists this season?
It's 11 games into the season. He is a 20 year old kid who has just moved to a new club and country. The goals will come. He's getting is positions and he's been unlucky.
The assist stat is a load of bollocks. He is creating enough chances, it's not his fault if other players don't take the chance.
It's no coincidence that we lost all attacking threat once he went off. That enabled their full back to get forward and both their goals came from his side.

Creativity isn't the issue. It is really down to us not taking our chances.
And defending!
Our entire back 4 isn't out.
Grandiol
Walker
Lewis....

All regulars
Gvardiol was a centre half before he came to us....

The issue is the ageing midfield which as relied on kdb and rodri. The decline in kdb was there last season for all to see. The bringing back of gundo was a big mistake and again that was obvious.
Ake, Akanji, Dias and Stones are our strongest back 4 so no I disagree. Yes put Josep in there too of course. I'm not disagreeing about Gundog etc at all I've been massively underwhelmed when he came back from the off

I've never doubted our ability to be involved in the title race for the past 12 years but at the start of this season with our players undercooked I thought we'd have our toughest season, when Rodri suffered his injury things got a whole lot tougher.

I don't think we'll win it this season, it's not the end of the world but I'm thinking recruitment on the back of the charges had been difficult.

I'm no pessimist but this is our most challenging season, I'd take top 4 (or 5 if we get that many slots in the CL next season), cleared of the charges then rebuild just as Pep did in his second season with us. And, I really hope Pep stays to oversee the rebuild, he's a genius.
This^^^^
To be honest, I wrote this season off before it began. There's no way a team can carry on these types of performances (season after season). I decided to embrace it as the last few years have taken a toll on me (God knows how the team must feel). The constant of pressure of expectation is a killer. Every game a must win takes it toll. To be honest, bizarrely, it's quite nice to watch a football match pressure free for a change. Whatever happens going forward (even if we don't win anything again), It's been an absolute pleasure to witness the best team in the world during my lifetime. Something I never thought I'd ever witness again.
