Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Even if Doku and Grealish come back from injury, we will still struggle. The team does not have goals in it, both in the wide area and from midfield.Gvardiol has been our most important goal threat after Haaland.

Bollocks!! We'll bounce back at Bournemouth after the defeat at Spurs.
Erm, OK. We'll bounce back at Sporting after the defeat at Bournemouth.

Erm, OK. We'll bounce back after the international break.

A bunch of fans saying "We'll bounce back" means fuck all in the grand scheme of things if the club, coaches, players and medical staff, - especially medical staff - don't get their arses in gear.
It's the ones saying "Either support the lads or fuck off" who get my goat. What difference is some gormless Twitter user with their fingers on their ears shouting 'Lalala' going to fucking make?

You can support the club, as you and I have done for many years, through all the ups and downs, but still criticise things you think are wrong. And, as you rightly say, it's only the players and the staff who can put things right.

Unfortunately they are exactly that, not playing some exciting brake-neck speed football, not conceding, scoring just enough. They almost play like Chelsea the second time Mou came around.
Yep.

Dippers quietly getting on with it..

On us to fight them.

Can't see it unless our players grow a set and get off the broken fingernail table.

I've been trying to find the right words to post and I'm not even sure if this will pan out the way it's intended...

We've had the heart ripped out of the side with injuries and an unsettled back 4. All teams need a solid foundation to suceed, we seem to be playing a patched up back 4 almost every game. We just can't get the consistency and continuity going. Throw in the fact rodri our heartbeat our calming presence on the pitch is out and we all knew we would have difficult times. Saying all that, it doesn't excuse some of the shit goals we have conceded and that's disappointing. Hopefully we can get the back 4 fit and firing again after the international break. That would be a start in our recovery.

Then we have the midfield issues....we're slow and old and some have past their peak sadly... and obviously kev is carrying an injury (or I hope so otherwise he's done a yaya and his legs have gone overnight) ..plus phil is out of sorts :-( and that reminds me... I have idea what's happened to kyle?? Bloody hell.

We have lots of issues all of a sudden hey!
We've made mistakes in the transfer market, we kinda mentioned it before rhe season that we hadn't really strengthened in all the right areas and it's bitten us on the bum now these injuries have hit home.. whether we try and rectify it in the jan window I have no idea....we don't tend to do much in January.....

And lastly pep....I love him and I always will but he's gonna have to work some magic to get us some silverware this season. He has a dilemma with kyle that's for sure! His drop off is staggering.

Thankfully the break has come and fingers crossed we get some experienced defenders back and firing and we get the show back on the road!

Yeh Brighton a week off City away in UCL
Already this season have played 5 games more than Brighton and Bournemouth ( who also had a week off before they played us) our last 2 PL opponents coupled with the injuries and lack of rotation Unless we can get the injured back it will become a vicious cycle as the fittest will have to play 3 games a week its not sustainable
Well if we dont get the injured fit again soon in some game Pep may be forced to play 4/5 academy players. Can't see him doing that for a Premier League game but CL game - a case of a bird in the hand is worth two birds in the bush i.e Premier league is more important. If there are only 11 outfield players available it means they cannot play 90 mins every 3-4 days. So they need resting.
Hence Peps arms raised during post match press conference. He really is between a rock and a hard place.

Haaland had a great first 35 to 40 min today..held it up well, knocked one on with his head
.all very rare...but ive always thought it was never a Pep buy.. just play better with false 9 and cycling / rotating positions up top. Im never convinced he really wanted big erl..doesn't suit his tiki taki stuff

Apart from Haaland, where do the goals come from?
Gvardiol is our top scorer over the last six games. Followed by Stones and Haaland. Players you'd normally rely on, like Foden, Bernardo, Doku, Savinho, Gundogan and KDB, can barely manage a shot on target between them, and some cannot even manage a shot.

I've moaned before about the fixture schedule but 4 away games on the spin does not help.

I know you can't help cup draws but too many of these HH AA fixture runs in the league schedule during the season.

I used to believe the best team wins the league, end of. But now, I'm not so sure.

Old lady luck taking care of fixture planning, injuries, player form and playing opposition when they are in good form or are performing shit, has much more bearing on results than anything else.

Plus, everyone raises their game for the Champions, fair enough but it means we have to be on it or, lucky all the time.

Not giving up yet just cos the Dippers are on a good run, it won't last.
I reckon we have as much chance if not more of winning the title, albeit with a lower points total than previous years.

We're here during this point every season.

People on here lose their heads and declare our season over.

Then we kick on after Christmas and win the league.

Those people are then quiet until the following year.
I've never doubted our ability to be involved in the title race for the past 12 years but at the start of this season with our players undercooked I thought we'd have our toughest season, when Rodri suffered his injury things got a whole lot tougher.

I don't think we'll win it this season, it's not the end of the world but I'm thinking recruitment on the back of the charges had been difficult.

I'm no pessimist but this is our most challenging season, I'd take top 4 (or 5 if we get that many slots in the CL next season), cleared of the charges then rebuild just as Pep did in his second season with us. And, I really hope Pep stays to oversee the rebuild, he's a genius.

KDB has only played 30 minutes in the last 6 games!

Agree with a lot of what you say here mate.

But... I don't believe we couldn't have signed a few worldy players to the squad..

Even with the charges hanging over us.

Stinks of being stingy penny pinchers on our part.

Not sure Big Erl suits a Pep team once you hollow out all the other goal scorers.
