While I agree we are seeing the end of an era due to age catching up with some of our stellar players, let's put some perspective on today. Here are the players that were unavailable to us. Ake, Dias, Akanji, Stones, Doku, Grealish. As a result we had to play a half fit Walker, a rookie kid at center half and another kid in Lewis that should be being nurtured like Foden was but can't due to our injury crisis. Kev isn't even half fit but he was thrown on to try and turn the tide. We are also missing the heartbeat of our side, Rodri. No team in world football is ripping up trees with all these issues. In spite of all this atm we sit five points ahead of Arsenal. Yes Liverpool are flying but they've ridden their luck so far in a few games I've seen them play. If they lose VVD and a couple of other key players let's see how it affects them.
Given the magnificent efforts from this squad over the last few years some burn out was bound to happen. My one criticism is our recruitment hasn't been from the top drawer the last couple of years.
Let's see where we are if we ever get a fully fit squad back. By then it may be too late for the title but we'll see
......................
Totally agree BUT, knowing that we do not have the right talents and we miss many players, why we couldn't cope and changed our playing style to suit the current situation?
Why the recruitment team failed to address these challenges in the last two years? It was obvious that our team is ageing, players like Rodri and KDB don't have replacement or cover, not only that but also lost young talents like Palmer!!!!

The missus just said it's because Pep knows it doesn't matter because we're getting a points deduction.
Would explain a lot I suppose.
Club do seem to be behaving like we're taking a hit this season.
Fair point o think we will most of 115 but there are probably going to be a couple of ones that ho against us resulting in a points deduction of 10 or so points .which would make winning the league almost impossible. So this is probably the best time to have a wobble

What charges do you reckon City are guilty of to warrant a 10 point deduction?

Simply too many are injured, and too many rusty or not fit enough. Loss of confidence plays a huge part. Sometimes it’s good to have a firm blip. Crisis? What crisis …

Totally agree, I usually listed to the boxing programe on Talkshite which is on every saturday night, guess what last night it was mysteriously changed to a football phone in, those dippers really are getting giddy :-) soon switched off.

Yeah almost zero closing down.

What's more of a worry is again and again we look world beaters or at the least comfy on 30 odd mins but then the opposition changes game plan and we're fucked.

Injuries or not, Pep needs to step up, we look like his first year year where he almost didn't look to fused if we were dicked as the next season he knew he'd be able to change it and fucking watch out. I'm not sure he's got it in him to go again.

He's said more than once if the players aren't with him etc.
I'm not sure they are, this could be the dying embers of brilliance.

With him being 6 months from potentially leaving it's time to shit or get off the pot I'm afraid.

Love you longtime Pep x

Agreed mate Pep definitely needs to either stay and do a proper refresh or let the next guy come in.

Watched it in a Manchester city centre pub, and wasn't impressed with our second half non performance at all, as Brighton improved ..... they could have scored with two headers even before they got their first goal .... our defending lately has been nothing short of shambolic, just a complete and utter state of panic, with City players scrambling around on their backsides in our own penalty area trying to clear the ball, especially Rico Lewis ..... i'd had a few beers, but i don't recall us offering anything upfront in that second half, what bit of confidence we had shown up until that point just nosedived as Brighton increasingly applied pressure and equalised, and we seemed second to every ball all over the pitch.

We can forget all about any title challenge, and probably a Champions League one too, unless things somehow improve rapidly .... at the moment we just aren't seeing anything like trophy winning football, confidence is waning, losses are coming thick and fast, and by the time we do finally manage to get our injured players place, and our act together again, it could already be far too late.

Even the well lit, and busy Christmas markets and crowds outside couldn't improve my mood as i deflatedly made my way back home wonderin' just when the depression was gonna end!

Good post mate, couldn't agree more ...

We seem to be running out of legs 2nd half, our midfield, always our dominant feature can't do it in the 2nd half, teams simply keep it tight first half then run through the midfield in the 2nd, injuries have played a huge part obviously, an unfit kyle, a very talented but raw CB rico and gvardiol simply isn't title winning standard, midfield without rodri loses control, upfront we are light, it's going to turn around of that I'm sure, glad the international break is here, but the club needs to keep as many players as possible away from their national teams, recover and come out after flying.

Deja vu. Felt like Sporting all over again. Bright start, looked like all is well again but didn't finish our chances, came out the 2nd half looking like a different team.

Not entirely doom and gloom for me. Maybe because I expected a dropoff after 4 league titles in-a-row. At the moment, I still hold faith in Pep and the team to set everything straight, just need most of the squad back fit again.

Some points

In the 9 minutes added time, how was that not a foul on Haaland at the edge of the box ? That's why Haaland lost it with the defender a few minutes later at the post.t

Teams are now going full gas knowing they can change have the team for the second half and still go full gas against at trying City. Scrap the 5 subs rule ! Plus we played midweek Brighton didn't.

I thought us fans were amazing I loved it today, my voice is suffering this morning lol

Also don't forget we are still every clubs cup final. Whilst I enjoy going to Brighton they were some right mardyarse Brighton fans in the queue waiting for the bus. One lady in her mid 60's was trying to wind us up with her laugh about how shit City are even with their dirty oil money lol I kid you not lol mid 60's. I couldn't be arsed to respond, I had a good time and wasn't going to let some bitter old Brighton fan spoil it ;)

When the team is winning everyone is happy. This is the time when the real character and true fans stay behind the team and support. City thro thick and thin. Will come back stronger then ever.

We can put it down to the injuries all we like but the truth is these collapses and being conceding the same chances and goals every week is down to the way we are set up!!! Why can't we just adjust a little play a little deeper? And when in front why can't we drop even deeper and play on the counter?? It might not be our style but when we are in such an 8njury crisis like we r surely it's a better option.

Spent the whole game screaming for fight and bottle, saw a little from a few but way off fighting for the shirt from most. Fight is the minimum I expect, threw nothing at them.
I’m personally gutted by what I saw.
