Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | Post Match Thread

Thought we looked sharp and in control until Nunes brain freez, and their changes. But after that it all fell apart.

This game looked very similar the bad games last season, and that is bad VERY bad. Ait-nouri not impressed with his passing and defending this game.

One positiv thing is that Rodri is back

In control, maybe but we never look like creating much

We can't finish decent teams off anymore.

A decent first half but very poor in the second.
As soon as Brighton went more direct, we were vulnerable and created nothing.
The team selection was fine given the absences, and most here were comfortable with it.
At times like this, three games in, you just have to stick together, work hard, and hope that you remain injury free in the international break.
I have seen many teams have a very poor start and turn it around. It needs to be us this time.
The media love a story like this, so as fans we must stay behind the team and the manager and not allow our recent achievements to make us forget our job.

I just dont know, the quality just isnt there and neither is the balance.

Pissed that away, first half was solid but once again our heads went after conceding.

Physically and technically not good enough.
Agree. Mentally weak again after conceding. I don’t know whether Peps half time talk was arrogance or complacency due to being in control.
Unfortunately I think Peps time is nearly done. There are younger more street wise and tactically betters managers now in the PL.

Give us our club back? What the actual fuck are you on about? Utter clown
Being surrounded by half and half twats and corporates and having the soul of the club ripped out and replaced by twee commercialism is a deal that some fans, myself included, were prepared to tolerate when we were wining everything.

Now we’re just also rans I’d sooner be also rans as Man City from Moss Side rather than some wank generic sporting organisation that has fuck all to do with Manchester or its working class fans.

So if Khaldoon et al can’t do the only thing we want them to and buy us a successful team then I’d rather they fucked off

Defeat snatched from the jaws of victory, again. Sad to watch. It was like watching two different teams first to second half.

Hurzeler brought on 4 subs and it won them the game. Despite our resources, when was the last time we managed to do that?

The first half, and the Wolves game, shows we have it in us. There’s something about the mentality of the team that just isn’t right. We’re like rabbits in headlights when the opposition get up against us.

Ref was a little too whistle-happy but we have had far worse than that. Can’t blame him. The penalty was clear, Nunes had no business having his arms up there. If you’re not going to take one in the face for the team then get off.

Bobb looked bright but faded badly and should have been off after an hour. Ditto Bernardo. Why do we have to leave it so late? Bitterly disappointed in Doku’s lack of contribution as for me he’s best as an impact sub.

Already getting bollocked by the wife for being in a foul mood. It’s going to be a long afternoon. And a long season.

Once again a side is attacking us and our R/ s defence is in midfield - watch the build up to the goal

Don’t know where we go from here. People moaning about the uncs, including me, but they were on a different level in terms of quality and attitude, just a shame they’ve all got old together.

No point being one of the richest clubs in the world if we don’t flex our muscles once in a while. But no let’s win the net spend trophy and not bother with evolving the squad in line with what others are doing. Football has changed - we haven’t and that I am afraid is down to Pep.

Big changes needed.

I thought there were positive signs in that first 60 mins until we gave away the goal. After that our old frailties started to appear.

Trafford did well. Khusanov was ok (excepting his needless dive-in to give them a free kick which ultimately resulted in a penalty. It was great to see Rodri back too.

I do believe that if we stick at it, this group of players will gel but it might take a while yet.

We really should have tucked that one away. Trafford superb, Nunes unlucky with instinctive arm lift for pen. Rodri impressive. The rest meh. Most worrying thing is we’re playing much longer passes yet losing almost every second ball and 50/50. Can’t handle fast physical opponents or being pressed. Too many lightweights. Still early days but not looking good at the moment. Can’t see us threatening for the title unless big improvements across the board. In the end Brighton deserved their win.
