Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | Post Match Thread

Sad to see but a team that literally would ‘fight till the end’ appears to have lost its desire, its confidence and its backbone. Whatever the solution is, Pep needs to discover it pretty darn quickly!
Only 18months he had day to figure it out. Don’t bet on it happening

Brighton races on today - must have tempting to nip out, and stay out?

One was me. Not now.

That today was pathetic defending.

Cowardly.

But it’s him or Lewis and given that choice I’d have Nunes.

I certainly overreacted with the idiot claim, but I can’t believe we have headed into the season with two shocking players as our choices at RB.

Not a fucking chance were winning the league playing like that and how does pep think we can get away with playing nunes all season ? Nothings changed from last season , another battle to scrap for top 4
TBF who is he supposed to play at RB. We have spent the last 2 weeks slagging off Lewis

Very good for the first hour but only one goal to show for it. Then a silly error from Nunes and they were back in it. Their winner showed that we are still unable to handle a ball played down our centre when we have just lost possession in their half - half our team have to turn and get back and we haven't got the pace to cope with opponents breaking from midfield. Ironically, Khusanov, who is quick had had to go off.

Love Pep, but it’s gone very stale, unlike others on here I don’t think we have had especially bad recruitment as have brought in a lot of quality who I believe under different instruction would bring in different performances/results. Look at Grealish since moving, Marmoush, Raindeer Cherki and RAN at their previous clubs. It’s our style, it’s dated.

I thought Klopp's number 2 was supposed to be an attack minded coach.
I think I overdosed on Horlicks in that second half. Dire.

Fuck off Nunes. You make Lewis seem like a back to back World Cup winner.
Alt Nouri....Jeeeesh.

Ooh this is NOT going to be pretty is it.
I just don't know what we need to fix first currently.
This isn't a squad built for our manager, style of play, or the PL in general. We're deficient in both creativity and strength, that's a recipe for disaster imho.
Most worrying - we lack leadership and backbone.
Maybe we improve in a couple of months once players get used to the physicality, but that didn't seem to be an issue for others when they joined (e.g. David Silva).
Pluses - Khusanov looks like he'll do well, Trafford looks like a decent shot stopper, we still have Haaland who keeps scoring no matter what else is happening

Our midfield was a gaping hole from the 60th minute. Marmoush was our best attacking outlet so the Doku sub made no sense. O’Reilly was a rabbit in the headlights for his spell though Bernardo was pretty poor himself. Nunes and Lewis are nowhere near good enough for a team with title aspirations. Bobb has moments but really needs to start delivering, he had Rodri was screaming for the ball and goes solo and loses it.

Khusanov is out best defender but yet again Stones gives a crucial ball away. Dias looks worse every match.

Honestly feel this team is done in its current form, we lack leaders, lack any sort of character and really really can’t fathom where we can turn this around. We have bought badly in midfield and attach (Reijnders and Marmoush aside) and find ourselves miles behind Liverpool and Arsenal.

We look as poor as ever as soon as we concede. Some teams respond to conceding goals by going at teams. We retreat into ourselves and look more likely to concede again.

That shape when Stones lost ball got their winner was every bit as bad as the worst of last season.

We have an awful start and could easily find ourselves out of any title race by the team we play Liverpool.

That result is as depressing as anything since December last season because after everything since then we still look a team that can play in spells but can’t sustain it for 90 minutes. Today we had a shapeless midfield, were weak defensively and lacked creativity.

Remember the days all we looked forward to was 40 points? it aint that bad its early days chill it wasnt Grimsby that beat us.

Pep is the problem. I was so looking forward to this season but we,are such a soft touch and with no attacking threat

Pep wants us to play like the first half that’s the problem now because teams know to put your foot in closed down speed it up and we fcuked!

Said it before let’s see after ten games..

We will never sack pep so we have him for this year and next if he doesn’t walk away and I don’t expect him too..

So, we're chasing the cups then.

I'll be ecstatic with the League Cup at the end of the season at this rate.
